Betting Tips for Today: Little to choose between Lyon and Saint-Etienne

With just a point separating these sides in the Ligue 1 table so far our tipster makes the case for another high-scoring draw at Groupama Stadium

Friday's offering in Ligue 1 is an intriguing clash between two teams sitting inside the top six.

After 12 games of the new season, Lyon and Saint-Etienne occupy fourth and fifth place respectively and will be fairly pleased with their results to date.

888Sport are 11/20 (1.55) about a home win here, despite Lyon only coming out on top once in their previous five games at Groupama Stadium in all competitions.

Nimes Saint-Etienne

The visitors are priced at 21/5 (5.20) to spring something of a surprise. That quote is understandable given they've only won once in six attempts on the road in Ligue 1 this season.

A draw is priced at 33/10 (4.30) which is the most interesting runner of the three considering there's just a point between the teams coming into this match.

It's also paid out in four of Lyon's previous five home games and while two of those were in the Champions League, there's little to choose between these teams domestically this term.

Saint-Etienne have already played out three stalemates on the road in Ligue 1 from six outings including trips to Strasbourg and Montpellier, both of whom sit inside the top half.

The visitors lost on their trips to Paris Saint-Germain and Lille but that's understandable given how well the pair have begun the season, sitting first and second in the table.

33/10 (4.30) should prove an attractive enough price on a stalemate but 888Sport also offer the option of a score draw at 21/5 (5.20).

Lyon's attacking strength is often dogged by defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their previous nine games in all competitions.

Of the four draws they've played out in their last five home games, both teams to score has landed in each of them so adding almost a point of extra return with this caveat makes plenty of appeal at 21/5 (5.20).

Despite a fairly lofty league position, clean sheets have been hard to come by for the visitors too with Saint-Etienne managing just two in their previous eight games in all competitions.

Given that this is the first game back after an international break, it might take a bit of time for the pair to get up to speed and a score draw at 21/5 (5.20) looks the way to go for Friday's fixture.
