Lyon v Roma Betting: Another late show for Spalletti's men in the Europa League

Two of the Europa League favourites will go head-to-head on Thursday, as Lyon welcome Roma to the Stade de Lyon for a last 16 first leg clash.

Having stormed past AZ Alkmaar 11-2 on aggregate in the previous round, Bruno Genesio's men are slight 6/4 (2.50) favourites with Betway to take control of this tie by coming out on top.

However, the Giallorossi are unbeaten on the road in this season's competition and can be backed at 9/5 (2.80) to put one foot in the quarter-finals with an away win in France.

None of the hosts’ last 11 Europa League games have resulted in draws, but you can get odds of 12/5 (3.40) on them being held to a stalemate in this one.

While Les Gones were racking up double figures against AZ over two matches, Luciano Spalletti’s team put four away goals past a usually resilient Villarreal defence to effectively secure progression in the first leg.

With this in mind, Thursday’s clash should see plenty of goalmouth action when two such prolific attacking teams come together at a ground where the fans have grown accustomed to entertainment recently.

GFX FACT LYON V ROMAGOAL

Having seen their side strike 33 times in the last nine home fixtures, the Stade de Lyon faithful will certainly be expecting goals, although are unlikely to be disheartened should they fail to go in immediately.

Each of Lyon’s last seven home games has produced over 1.5 second-half goals, while seven of their guests’ last 10 in all competitions have seen two or more go in after the break.

In fact, with at least two goals having been scored in the second period of five of Roma’s previous seven Europe League matches, odds of 17/20 (1.85) seem generous on the net bulging at least twice after half-time when the teams go head-to-head.
