Tema Youth complained of robbery but their hosts say it is not true

An official of Ghana FA Cup holders Bechem United has refuted reports claiming Tema Youth players were victims of robbery when both sides clashed at the Bechem Park on Wednesday.

The visiting players had complained of missing personal items such as mobile phones and shoes locked in their room, and that fans of the host club might have broken into the apartment to remove the items.

However, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, Bechem’s chief executive officer, doubts the occurrence of such an incident.

“From what they’re saying it’s hard to believe. The dressing room was locked. When you follow how events unfolded well you’ll find out is a mere fabrication” Bonsu told Kumasi based Bohye FM.

“Initially one of their players said his phone and boot are missing, they later said it was five phones which are missing but when we told them to go to the police and file an official complaint they were reluctant,” he added.

Ashantigold SC, 2015 Ghana Premier League champions, complained of stolen items at the Bechem Park some time ago, but investigations did not reveal anything evidence.

Bechem won the game 1-0 over Tema Youth and will face AshGold on Sunday while Tema will play WAFA same day.
