The France-based Bafana international wants to do everything for the team as long as they qualify for Afcon 2019

Despite many questioning his inclusion in the squad to face Libya on Sunday, Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu says he is not bothered by such criticism.

Zungu says his focus is on helping the national team qualify for the 2019 Caf African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt even if he is not playing.

“Criticism? Nah (no), it doesn’t bother me. Look, the most important thing is to qualify for Afcon. Whether I’m playing or not, we have to qualify,” Zungu told Daily Sun.

The criticism emanates from the fact the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has just returned to action since suffering a knee injury at the start of the season with his club in France, Amiens II SC.

“So the people who say negative things about Keags (Dolly) and I have to see that. I’m very happy. I become very grateful whenever I get a call-up,” he added.

Zungu missed Bafana's previous qualifying matches against Libya, Nigeria, and Seychelles and he is happy to be back.

“And to be called up for such an important match is an amazing feeling,” he continued.

With Bafana coach Stuart Baxter looking to avoid a defeat in Tunisia on Sunday, Zungu could be in the starting line-up and he says he will give his all for the team.

“If the coach gives me a chance I’m going to put everything I have in that game in order for Bafana to qualify - that’s all,” he concluded.
