Domenico Tedesco has given an update on the Ghanaian's fitness situation

Schalke 04 full-back Baba Rahman is on course to make his second debut in the coming weeks, club boss Domenico Tedesco has said.

Owing to fitness concerns, the Ghanaian is yet to take to the pitch for the Royal Blues since rejoining the club in an 18-month loan deal from English giants Chelsea in January.

He was on the books of the German outfit last season before picking up the problematic long-term injury while playing for Ghana at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

"Baba is getting better and the stability of his knee is looking good," Tedesco said at a press conference on Thursday.

"He's completing a lot of sessions and the chances are he may appear in the matchday squad again soon."

Baba joined Chelsea in August 2015 but limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge warranted a loan move to Schalke a year later after playing 15 league games in his first season with the Blues.

The switch to the Bundesliga was, however, cut short by the injury.

He made 13 league appearances, involving seven starts, before the incident.

Originally scheduled to return to action after seven months, a series of complications kept him out of action until January when he made a second half outing for Chelsea’s reserves in a fixture with Queens Park Rangers.

He has been involved in training sessions since making his Schalke return but yet to play a game.
