Ashanti Gold defeated regional rivals Asante Kotoko 3-2 in the second leg of the Asante derby at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday.

Ashanti Gold president Dr. Kwaku Frimpong lost his Lamborghini Gallardo through a bet in the first leg of the friendlies and promised to give out one of his mansions if the visitors completed a double.

Following a pulsating early exchange, Ashanti Gold made their intentions clear, with Sadick Adams, Shafiu Mumuni and Richard Ella Djodi coming close to claiming the opener but their efforts were saved by goalkeeper Kwame Baah.

By the fifth minute, the hosts had their noses in front through Mumuni. The forward connected a pass from his teammate and perfectly finished it off beyond the reach of goalkeeper Baah this time around.

By the 18th minute, Sadick blew up a glorious opportunity to double the hosts' advantage. The former Kotoko striker lashed a through ball from MaCcarthy Appiah horribly wide.

However, Mumuni finally made it 2-0 for Ashanti Gold and his second of the day three minutes later with a wonderful strike.

Kotoko regrouped, found their footing and began to cause troubles to the hosts' defence.

Richard Senanu intercepted a pass from Salia Ouattara and released Obed Owusu with a long pass and the striker went past Emmanuel Nti Mensah before sending his last ditch effort past onrushing goalkeeper George Owu by the 54th minute.

Sogne Yacouba, who scored a brace in the first leg, brought Kotoko level by the 68th minute following a miscalculation by the Ashanti Gold defence to silence the home supporters.

Few minutes after the goal, there was a bust-up following an off the ball incident as both captains Amos Frimpong and Mumuni saw red.

Deep in additional time, Djodi scored the winning goal from the spot. The forward was brought down in the box and he stepped up to place the ball past the goalkeeper.

The two clubs, according to reports, have agreed to honour another game on a neutral ground.
