Exclusive: The striker is optimistic his side will end their disappointing start to the campaign this weekend with a win over the Phobians

Ashanti Gold striker Kofi Owusu says his side is confident of ending their winless run in the Ghana Premier League, as they host giants Hearts of Oak at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The Miners have gone three games without a win, picking only two home victories throughout this season, which has led to the resignation of head coach Bashir Hayford last week.

However, their visitors come into the game on the back of an emphatic victory over Bechem United on Wednesday but the former goal king says they will appease the supporters with a victory.

"It has been a difficult debut season for me and the club also but we still have belief that results will change soon. The change will start this weekend with a win over Hearts," Owusu told Goal.

"We have few issues within the club and it led to the resignation of our coach last week. Results have been poor and supporters are complaining unendingly but such things are expected so we will try and appease them with a win.

"Hearts will surely fall in Obuasi despite picking a win here last season. This is because as we have motivated ourselves and believe a win in this game will completely change our season," he added.

Ashanti Gold are sitting 15th on the log with eight points while Hearts are fifth with 15 points, five points behind leaders Wafa.
