Melbourne Victory legend Archie Thompson clearly isn't ready to say goodbye to professional football just yet, linking back up with Victorian National Premier League outfit Murray United.
The 39-year-old joins the club as a mid-season transfer having made 18 appearances scoring seven goals for the club last season.
He'll link up with former Victory teammates Daniel Vasilevski and Angel Taravillo at United, with the duo also being enticed to join the club mid-season.
Murray United are currently eighth in the Victorian East NPL having won five of their first 14 games with Thompson eager to contribute as soon as possible.
"Now it’s just about getting the time to come back for training and being part of the team again," Thomspon told The Border Mail.
"I haven’t played a competitive game since the last game for Murray back in August, but hopefully I’ll catch up to speed pretty quickly and be part of the team.
"I’ve got that bit of fire back which is nice to have."
Thompson played over 200 games for Victory in the A-League, winning three championships and is third on the all-time goal scorer list.
Though unavailable for selection this weekend, Thompson will be vying to make his return to the pitch for United next week.
