After sinking Melbourne City with a stunning scorpion-kick goal for Newcastle Jets in the A-League semi-finals, Riley McGree has opted to join City on loan for next season.
Still just 19 however, McGree is set to stick around in Australia for another season in search of regular game time with City happy to abide.
"Riley is a very bright and ambitious young prospect who will fit well in to this team," Melbourne City's director of football Michael Petrillo said.
"He’s a versatile midfielder who has a deft touch and is very capable of both scoring goals and of creating chances for those around him."
McGree played 12 games scoring five goals for Newcastle last season and though the Jets were understood to be interested in retaining him, he ultimately opted to join City.
"I could see that this club is going places, and I want to be here winning more trophies," McGree said.
"Getting young players in and creating a good, stable base as a club is an important thing to do, and I’m excited to be part of it."
