Ashanti Gold coach C.K Akonnor has insisted that he never demanded the signing of striker Sadick Adams during the Ghana Premier League second transfer window which ended on Monday.
The 28-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Miners last week, following a mutual termination of his contract with Asante Kotoko, and although he was heavily linked to Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars, he returned to Obuasi after more than a decade since he left to join Atletico Madrid in 2007.
"I was never aware of Sadick Adams' arrival because he wasn't part of the players that I told the club's top hierarchy I needed," Akonnor told Nhyira FM.
"I only read about him joining Ashanti Gold on the internet but I never hinted that I needed his services.
"The only players that I discussed with the club's chief executive officer [Frederick Acheampong] were Eric Donkor and Salia Ouattara.
"Let me emphasis that I'm not aware of Sadick Adams' arrival and who brought him to the club so he's not in my plans and will rather concentrate on those I'm aware of," he added.
Sadick was Kotoko's topscorer with 10 goals after 12 appearances in all competitions last season and was named as the goal king in the FA Cup.
