Alexis Kitenge’s first birthday on Kenyan soil was ruined by AFC Leopards’ 2-0 lose to Kariobangi Sharks in a Kenyan Premier League match on Saturday.

The Burundian, who arrived in the country on Friday after completing his move to the Den, turned 24 on Saturday but the birthday party was spoilt by Ingwe’s painful lose that left them just three places above relegation zone.

News of the new catch’s birthday was posted on the club’s official Facebook page, just a few minutes after Leopards succumbed to Ebrimah Sanneh and Mathew Odongo goals in Nakuru.

“Happy birthday Alexis Kitenge,” read the message which was accompanied by a photo of the Burundi player holding bottled water on both hands with an Administration Police officer and a few disillusioned fans on the background.

This message did not go down well with a section of fans, who took to the same platform to vent their anger on the ‘insensitive’ post after a poor display by Ingwe.

“That’s what you can concentrate on as we lose each game that comes,” ranted John Mulima.

Geoffrey Musongu: “Happy birthday bindu shina? (what for). 11 games winless. Ingwe leadership you are cheating fans.”
