The Fire Boys coach says his team is not to be underrated in the group stage of the Caf Confederation Cup

Aduana Stars coach Yusif Abubakar believes in their chances of making the Caf Confederation Cup semifinals despite being placed in the "group of death" in the 'Money Zone'.

On their first appearance at the group stage of a continental championship, the Fire Boys have been pitted against ASEC Mimosas of Cote d'Ivoire, Raja Casablanca of Morocco and AS Vita Club of Congo DR.

All three opponents are past winners of the Caf Champions League, a superior competition to the Confederation Cup.

"All sixteen clubs in the [four] groups are tough and I do not see any particular team as being bigger than the other," Abubakar told Happy FM.

"If you look at modern day football, you do not underrate any country or any club again.

"Having reached this stage, I am not scared because we believe in ourselves that we can fight - that's why we have been grouped there.

"Therefore, if we're said to be in the group of death, that means Aduana Stars are rated as one of the biggest clubs in Africa. If not, they wouldn't have called it the 'group of death'.

Aduana will open their group stage campaign against ASEC next month, before facing Raja and Vita.

"The group will make Aduana popular in Africa and every player has to be ready - both psychologically and mentally - to show that they can also stand the so-called big clubs on the continent," Abubakar added.

"It's going to be a big challenge.

"Maybe some clubs might see Aduana as underdogs and that is where we will let them know everything is going to be decided in 90 minutes on the field."
