Adomah leads Aston Villa rout over Wolverhampton Wanderers

Albert Adomah has taken his goal tally in this season's English Championship to 14 after finding the back of the net in Aston Villa's triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Ghanaian's opener was just the precursor of good things for the Claret and Blue who registered a 4-1 home win at Villa Park.

The strike has taken him two goals above his 2013-14 campaign record of 12 while on the books of Middlesbrough.

Against Wolves, Adomah opened the scoring early, bundling the ball into the net from close range after Wolves failed to fully clear a corner in the eighth minute.

The lead lasted for 12 minutes as the visitors responded through Diogo Jota, who scrambled the ball into the net after connecting with Matt Doherty's deflected cross.

Twelve minutes after recess, Villa restored their one-goal cushion, thanks to James Chester, who tucked in Robert Snodgrass' free-kick.

Adomah resurfaced in the 62nd minute, this time, setting up Lewis Grabban for their third goal, before Birkir Bjarnason completed the destruction four minutes to full-time.

Having picked three points, third-placed Villa have cut down the point difference between themselves and first-positioned Wolves to seven.

Adomah has made 29 appearances, involving 26 starts, for Steve Bruce's outfit this season.

He joined the Claret and Blue in 2016.
