Tusker 0-2 Gor Mahia: Tuyisenge and Onyango on the double
Goal Kenya.
The Kenyan champions have now managed to beat the Brewers home and away in the 2018/19 season

Gor Mahia managed a season double over Tusker, winning 2-0 at Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday.

Jacques Tuyisenge and Samuel Onyango scored for the Green Army as they also picked up points that would enable them to maintain top spot in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) table.

Tuyisenge earned his fifth goal of the season when he managed to beat the Tusker markers in the fifth minute and open the scoring for Gor Mahia. The goalscoring move was started by Kenneth Muguna who spotted the Rwandan striker inside the opponent's box.

Tuyisenge scored from a tight angle and managed to beat Robert Mboya for the first goal in Machakos. Tusker suffered from what looked like a disjointed game plan in the first 20 minutes as almost all their movements were cut short before reaching Gor Mahia’s box.

Geoffrey Ochieng and Philemon Otieno remarkably dealt with Boniface Muchiri, Timothy Otieno and Jackson Macharia every time the Brewers trio attempted to make inroads into the box.

Good combination play between Nicholas Kipkirui, Francis Kahata and Muguna almost resulted in another goal for the Green Army but Mboya blocked and deflected the ball away from a Kahata attempted shot.

Otieno almost caught Gor Mahia’s backline napping but Shaban Odhoji raced out of his area to prevent his former teammate from inflicting pain on the KPL’s reigning champions in the 27th minute.

Samuel Onyango doubled K’Ogalo’s lead in the 31st minute with a second attempt on Tusker’s goal. Mboya had stopped the initial goal-bound shot but Onyango managed to collect the rebound and slot it past the goalkeeper.

Odhoji injured himself after he went for a through-ball that Macharia meant for Muchiri in the 57th minute. Shakava and Joash Onyango failed to stop Macharia forcing the goalkeeper to make a quick interception. The Gor Mahia keeper was then given the green light to proceed with the match by the medics.

The assistant referee ruled out Otieno’s 60th-minute goal for offside but the replay showed that the forward was not offside at the time he volleyed the ball past Odhoji. Onyango had played him in as the Brewers came close to pull one back at the hour mark.

Tusker XI: Robert Mboya, Rodgers Aloro, Hillary Wandera, Eugene Asike, David Naftali (Peter Nzuki), Justine Omary, Sydney Ochieng, Noah Wafula (Clyde Senaji), Jackson Macharia, Timothy Otieno, Boniface Muchiri (Kelvin Wafula).
