Scorer of the first, Gibbs-White’s low strike from close range was cleared against Jorgensen by Mee, with the ball looping past the defender and over the line despite the best efforts of the former Burnley man.

Forest have been the better team in the first half and must not let the late first half heartbreak change their performance levels after the break. Against Bournemouth and Fulham at the City Ground, Cooper's side have dropped points after taking the lead but must keep their composure to ensure they come away with something. Their attacking trio of Johnson, Gibbs-White and Dennis have looked dangerous every time that they have got the ball in Brentford's defensive third. As for the away team, they must look to alter something. They may be level with their opponents, but they have not shown anywhere near the same amount of quality.
Mbeumo scored a late first half penalty to deny a dominant Forest the lead at the break. Much the better team in the opening 45 minutes, Johnson had two shots saved by Raya before the hosts opened the scoring. It was Gibbs-White who broke the deadlock, with the summer signing receiving the ball from Dennis before slaloming past several defenders and curling his attempt into the bottom corner. The away team struggled to find an attacking rhythm without Toney but were given an opportunity to equalise after Henderson tripped Wissa in the box. This is the first ever top flight meeting between Forest and Brentford. Forest have won three of their last five against them, though were winless in both games the last time the sides met in the 2020-21 Championship campaign (D1 L1).
As for Brentford, Frank makes two alterations to the team that drew with Wolves. At right-back, Roerslev comes in for Kristoffer Ajer who is not in the squad. The away side are also missing Ivan Toney after the striker collected his fifth yellow card of the season in the previous match. As a result, his spot in the attack is taken by Lewis-Potter.
Forest make three changes to the side that lost to Arsenal last time out. At left-back, Williams replaces Lodi who moves onto the bench. The midfield remains the same, with the other switches coming in the attack. Dennis is preferred ahead of Lingard on the left wing and Johnson leads the line instead of Awoniyi.

As for Brentford, they drew 1-1 with Wolves last time out and are just one point outside the top half of the table. Despite this, the hosts will take encouragement from their poor away record. Thomas Frank’s team are yet to win on the road this season, drawing four of their seven matches. In their last two games on their travels against Newcastle United and Aston Villa, Brentford conceded nine goals, scoring just one. However, they have won five of their last seven away league games against Forest, with both defeats in this run coming in 2019 (1-2 in February, 0-1 in October).
Beating Liverpool in their previous match at the City Ground, Forest will be looking to make it back-to-back wins at home after being thumped by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Victorious on just two occasions this season, with their only other triumph coming against West Ham, Steve Cooper’s side sit on nine points and are at the bottom of the Premier League table.
