Commentary

Both teams now turn their attentions back to EFL Cup duty. This result may not mean much at the moment, but it could prove all the difference between Watford and Norwich come the end of the season. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Watford's win lifts them to 11th in the Premier League table after five games. There are now six points between them and Norwich, who remain rock-bottom with no points at all. Munoz will be delighted with the grit his team showed. Norwich should by no means be written off yet in terms of staying in the league but they need to end their losing streak quickly.
Watford condemn Norwich to defeat and give their Premier League survival hopes an early boost! The Hornets were just too street smart for the hosts, who showed flashes of quality but let themselves down by switching off at vital moments. Sarr played particularly well and nearly grabbed himself a hat-trick.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: NORWICH CITY 1-3 WATFORD
B. Williams
Yellow Card
90' + 5' The referee shows Williams the yellow card. There's no time for Watford to do anything with the free-kick. They have done it!
90' + 4' Williams cuts across Kucka, toppling the midfielder over. This will be a card of some kind.
90' + 3' Watford are winding down the clock. This could be a vital away win for them in the grand scheme of their Premier League season.
90' + 2' Norwich see away the corner. Tzolis tries to thread a ball through to Pukki. Troost-Ekong has it covered and tempts the Finn into fouling him.
90' Sarr, who's on a hat-trick, inspires another good save from Krul from inside the box to earn Watford a corner. They'll take it short. There'll be four more minutes of this.
89' Kabak sticks a foot out and trips King in the final third. Watford have had Norwich chasing shadows for the last five minutes. The hosts look utterly deflated.
A. Idah
M. Rashica
88' Norwich substitution. The Ireland striker Idah replaces Rashica, but it's surely too late now.
87' Sema beats Kabak to burst into the box until the Turkish international muscles him off the ball. Watford want a penalty but they aren't getting one.
86' Cantwell wafts a hopefull ball in the direction of Tzolis. Rose wins the header to nod it back to Foster. Watford are almost there.
84' Ngakia fires wide from outside the box. All of Norwich's energy has dissipated since Watford's third goal was confirmed.
O. Etebo
T. Cleverley
82' Watford substitution. Cleverley goes off. The Nigerian midfielder Etebo replaces him in midfield.
82' The Watford supporters are beginning to celebrate, as well they might. They've been more clinical than Norwich and are good value for the three points, unless Norwich can come up with a miraculous late comeback.
I. Sarr
Goal
80' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 1-3 WATFORD! The goal is given! Kabak played King onside as he forced Krul into a diving save. The ball rebounded to Sarr who passed into an empty net. It looks like Watford will be going home with the win. Norwich might grumble about this goal. The offside call was extremely tight.
80' Sarr thinks he's grabbed his second goal but the offside flag goes straight up. The officials will take a closer look...
79' Norwich are swarming Watford's box but can't create a decent chance yet. Aarons sets himself and delivers a cross towards Rashica who gets his stooping header all wrong.
77' Gilmour skips through the middle and finds the feet of Pukki. Watford crowd the striker out and eventually hack clear.
75' Foster makes a great save to deny Rashica's curler from inside the box! The Kosovo international had got on the end of Tzolis' low cross from the right. Tzolis tries fo force the issue but the offside flag goes up.
74' McLean wins possession in midfield and lets rip from the edge of the box. It's a decent effort by the Scot but it's straight at Foster.
K. Sema
E. Dennis
73' Here's that Watford change. Sema replaces Dennis.
72' Watford threaten to score a third goal, flashing the ball across Norwich's penalty area. The visitors are close to making further changes of their own.
T. Cantwell
M. Normann
70' Cantwell comes on for Normann who's had a decent debut. It looks like Norwich will switch to a 4-2-3-1 with Cantwell playing as the number 10.
C. Tzolis
J. Sargent
70' Here come those Norwich changes. Sargent is the first player to make way. Tzolis takes his place on the wing.
68' Norwich are preparing Tzolis and Cantwell to come on. They need some inspiration from somewhere. Watford have got this game under control at the moment.
66' Norwich are still getting opportunities but they need more of them. Pukki fires wide of the left-hand post after wriggling free to the right of the box.
65' Watford have won six of their last nine away league games against Norwich, as many as they did in their previous 40 visits to the Canaries. They're currently heading for seven wins in their last 10 trips to Norfolk.
J. King
Assist
63' Norwich's poor defending has cost them again as King was afforded far too much space to pick his cross. Now they've got to muster the energy to come back once more. But can they?
I. Sarr
Goal
63' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 1-2 WATFORD! Sarr restores Watford's lead with his second goal of the season! The Senegal international finishes smartly at the near post as King cuts back from Ngakia's pass down the line. That was too easy for the visitors.
62' Aaron's slide rule pass sends Sargent scampering down the right. The American earns Norwich a corner. Normann smashes the bouncing ball against a Watford player.
61' Cleverley's corner hits two Norwich players and goes out for another. This one is less eventful as the hosts earn a throw-in.
60' Norwich's corner passes without incident. Normann cuts out Ngakia's cross. Now it's Watford's turn to try to get their delivery right.
J. Ngakia
Kiko Femenía
59' Watford make the game's first substitution. Ngakia replaces Femenia, who gave Norwich plenty to think about during his hour on the pitch.
57' Chance for Norwich! Williams reaches the byline and Pukki pops the ball to Sargent before receiving the returning pass. Troost-Ekong makes a timely block at the near post to concede the corner. Meanwhile Femenia is injured and looks unable to continue.
55' Rose catches Pukki's shin and hands Norwich a free-kick near the halfway line. Pukki rubs his shin before getting back up.
53' Watford earn a corner down their left, temporarily giving Norwich a taste of their own medicine. The Canaries see it out. The next goal may well prove to be the winner.
51' Rashica takes a tumble in the box under a clumsy challenge from Rose. Rose is lucky not to concede a penalty after VAR finds no wrongdoing.
50' McLean meets Gilmour's delivery and fires into a crowd of bodies. Norwich are upping the ante now.
49' Normann hurls a long throw into Watford's box. Gilmour's cross cannons off Rose and Norwich have a corner.
48' The home fans are responding as Norwich try to pin Watford into their own half. Aarons takes on Rose and the visitors are given a free-kick to the bemusement of the England U21 man.
47' Sargent knocks a ball over the top that's intended for Pukki but it's got too much power on it to find the Finn. McLean strikes from distance and causes a bit of pinball in Watford's penalty area. Rashica tries to find the head of Sargent but overcooks the cross.
46' Cleverley pushes over Normann as he's beaten by the Norwegian. The next 45 minutes could end up being feisty.
45' Watford get the second half underway. No changes by either side at half-time.
Watford have lost nine of their last 10 away games in the Premier League, including each of their last eight in a row. All of the Hornets' last four away wins in the top flight have been against sides eventually relegated that season, including Norwich in 2019-20. A repeat here for Munoz's men could prove crucial for both sides' seasons.
It's all square at the end of a fiercely contested first half. Norwich must have had that familiar sinking feeling after Dennis gave Watford the lead but the hosts bounced back through Pukki to give them a fighting chance of victory in the second half. This game could swing either way.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: NORWICH CITY 1-1 WATFORD
45' + 2' Norwich survive Watford's latest corner. Hanley heads away Femenia's cross. That'll be all for now.
45' There'll be two more minutes of a first half that has raced by. Krul makes a smart save to stop Sarr from finding the bottom right corner from Rose's throughball. Watford have a corner.
44' Williams powers into the penalty area and goes down. Play continues. Sargent picks up the pieces and lays off to Pukki who fires over from the centre of the box.
43' Gilmour fouls Kucka down Watford's left. Krul flaps at the free-kick and gets stranded on the edge of the box. Thankfully for Norwich, Watford can't capitalise on the error.
41' Norwich give Sarr enough time and space to get a shot away with his left foot from inside the box. Krul drops low to catch it but the hosts have to be careful not to go behind again.
39' Rose fouls his counterpart Aarons down Norwich's right. There's been a decent zip to the first half of this match.
C. Cathcart
Yellow Card
37' Cathcart receives the game's first yellow card for driving into the back of Sargent.
M. Normann
Assist
35' Normann thought about nothing more than playing the ball forward for Pukki there and the striker made the most of it. Normann will have endeared himself with Norwich fans already.
T. Pukki
Goal
35' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 1-1 WATFORD! Pukki grabs the equaliser for Norwich! The Finn darts onto Normann's knocked pass down the line, finishing smartly into the centre of the net. That's the type of ruthless finishing he's known for.
34' Aarons wins a free-kick in his own half as Dennis tries too hard to win the ball. Norwich need to relieve the pressure Watford are putting on them at the moment.
32' Femenia cuts back for King who's hovering near the penalty spot. Norwich manage to take the sting out of King's shot. Femenia fires in another cross and Williams leaves this one for Krul to punt away.
30' Watford still have the ball. Norwich force them to pass all the way back to Foster. The visitors eventually panic and hand Farke's men a throw-in down their left.
28' Watford retain possession for a while, drawing Norwich forward to press. Normann clatters into Kucka to hand Watford a free-kick.
26' Watford defend the corner well initially. Pukki flicks a header on to Sargent who can't get the better of Troost-Ekong, kicking twice into thin air. Sargent's been energetic for Norwich, even though his efforts have been fruitless so far.
25' Aarons is back to his feet now. Sargent feints onto his left foot and goes for goal from outside the box. His shot deflects out for a Norwich corner.
23' Rashica fires a few crosses towards the box and Watford deal with them well. Sarr looks up and tries to free King but Aarons makes a vital block to stop the ball from reaching the Norwegian, injuring himself in the process.
21' Femenia gets forward again and this time skies his attempted cross. Norwich haven't been able to establish control of the midfield yet with Watford looking bright.
19' Norwich face becoming just the fifth team to lose each of their first five matches of a Premier League campaign if they don't recover here. That said, two of the previous four did go on to survive relegation, so all isn't lost yet.
Kiko Femenía
Assist
17' Femenia's cross was decent but Norwich were caught ball-watching there. This isn't the start the Canaries would have wanted.
E. Dennis
Goal
17' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 0-1 WATFORD! Dennis guides a header past Krul to give Watford the lead! It's a simple goal as the Nigerian arrives late between Norwich's defenders to nod in Femenia's cross.
16' Sarr initially beats Williams down the right but Williams recovers well to get a foot in and put the ball out for a corner. Norwich see it out.
14' Kabak makes a timely intervention to stop Norwich from getting caught out on the counter-attack. The former Liverpool man is likely to be busier in his new role than he was at his previous club.
13' Cleverley floats a teasing ball into the penalty area from the inside-right. Kucha rushes towards the far post to meet it but can't get his head on the end of it.
12' Sargent plays the ball towards Pukki but is taken out while doing so. Norwich's new loanee Normann goes for glory from way out. It's a comfortable save for Watford's goalkeeper Foster.
11' Pukki chests a pass down and lays off to Aarons who side-foots a cross back into the penalty area. It's in front of everybody though and Watford go unpunished.
10' Rashica fizzes a decent ball to the feet of Sargent from the left. The American is unable to control it despite having time in the box and it trickles out for a goal-kick.
9' Sargent looks to find Pukki with a flick on the edge of the box but it doesn't come off. Dennis cuts inside from the left and forces a routine save from Krul with a right-footed shot.
8' Gilmour fires the free-kick in and somehow misses everybody in yellow and green. Norwich win the ball back quickly though.
7' Norwich slowly make progress down their right. Pukki uses his body well to tempt Rose into fouling him and earn a free-kick for the hosts in a promising position.
5' Aarons nips in on Dennis to prod the ball out for a throw-in. The Norwich right-back will have his work cut out dealing with Dennis here, one of Watford's scorers on the opening day of the season.
3' Norwich debutant Kabak helps out Aarons to put a stop to Dennis' run. Watford get another early corner which Norwich clear.
2' Cleverley's corner comes in and Norwich get rid of it after Cathcart heads harmlessly wide. King takes a tumble in Norwich's box after a nudge from Hanley but it's not a penalty. It's been a frenetic start by both teams.
2' Norwich go on the attack straight from kick-off, swinging a cross into Watford's box that the visitors clear. Sarr powers up the other end to whip in a dangerous ball that Hanley prods out for a corner to Watford.
1' The players take the knee and Norwich get this game underway!
The two teams come out onto the pitch at a lively Carrow Road. Norwich are in their traditional yellow and green home colours. Watford are wearing their all-red away strip.
Watford have something of a hoodoo over Norwich, having beaten the Canaries in each of their last four league meetings. Both meetings between the sides last season in the Championship finished 1-0 to the Hornets. With so much at stake for both teams in what looks like an early relegation six-pointer, this game could be a similarly tight affair.
Norwich make five changes to the team that lost 1-0 away to Arsenal last time out. Kabak and Normann make their debuts for the club, while Sargent and Rashica flank Pukki up front. There are four changes to Watford's line-up from their 2-0 home defeat to Wolves last week. Foster starts in goal. Cleverley, Cathcart and Femenia also start.

Since winning on the opening day Watford have also found it difficult adapting to the top flight, with the Hornets having failed to score in their last three Premier League games and boasting the lowest xG in the competition so far this term. Xisco Munoz's team could find it easier to find the net here against what has been a leaky Norwich back line.
After a tricky start to their Premier League campaign Norwich will want this to be the game where they get their season truly up and running. The Canaries find themselves bottom of the table after four games on the back of a 14-game losing streak in the top flight. If Daniel Farke's men want to stay up come the season's end, Watford at home is the sort of game they need to be winning.
