Commentary

That is all for tonight folks, thanks for joining us. Goodbye!
Forest looked lost, which is no surprise considering their transfer strategy, but they still had three good chances to score. Awoniyi wasted the first when he hit the post, Lingard took too long for the second, while Gibbs-White headed straight into the hands of Ward. In truth, Forest made Leicester look like a comfortable mid-table side, and that perhaps shows the battle Cooper has on his hands, that is, if he keeps his job.
Leicester win their first game of the Premier League campaign in style, as they run out comfortable winners against fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest. The Foxes started the day three points behind their opponents, but it is now Cooper's side that prop up the division. Leicester flew out of the blocks, and Maddison got his first of the night when his shot deflected off McKenna into the net in the 25th minute. Two minutes later, they doubled their tally when Barnes smashed home Vardy's cutback to give Henderson no chance. The Manchester United loanee was helpless for Maddison's second and Leicester's third, as the midfielder floated his free-kick in off the post. Daka stepped off the bench to complete the rout on what could be a devastating night for Cooper and Forest.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME - LEICESTER 4-0 FOREST.
S. Cook
Yellow Card
Nottingham Forest
90' + 2' Cook is now booked after bringing down Daka during a Leicester counter-attack.
90' Three minutes of stoppage time to come!
88' CHANCE! Forest waste another opportunity to find a way past Ward, but Gibbs-White fires his glancing header straight into the hands of the Wales international.
M. Albrighton
J. Maddison
Leicester City
85' No chance for the hat-trick for Maddison, as he makes way for Albrighton.
85' Less than 10 minutes remaining, and Forest's players will just be desperate to get back on the bus and move on from this terrible night's work.
J. Maddison
Yellow Card
Leicester City
83' Maddison is carded after a lunging tackle on Lodi, there was not much contact, but the referee has penalised him for the intent.
D. Praet
Y. Tielemans
Leicester City
80' Rodgers does make a change in midfield, with Tielemans replaced by Praet.
78' SAVE! Forest register their second shot on target, but Ward gets a strong hand to Johnson's shot to concede a corner.
76' Maddison has been in inspired form this evening, but it could be time for Rodgers to take him off and protect him for future battles. Easier said than done, of course, with the former Norwich man on a hat-trick.
J. Maddison
Assist
Leicester City
73' Maddison's fine night continues, with the midfielder grabbing an assist after already scoring two goals.
P. Daka
Goal
Leicester City
73' GOAAAALLLL - LEICESTER 4-0 FOREST - Daka grabs a goal off the bench as he backheels Maddison's cross into the bottom corner. Maddison's low pass had plenty of zip on the ball, allowing Daka to flick the ball towards the goal without any trouble. Henderson was wrong-footed, and he picked the ball out of the net for the fourth time.
73' Both Brighton and Tottenham had 11 shots on target when they placed Leicester, compared to Forest, who have only recorded one so far.
B. Soumaré
Yellow Card
Leicester City
71' Referee Robert Jones showed Soumare a yellow card after he tried to bring down Mangala, not once but twice, by pulling his shirt.
O. Mangala
J. Lingard
Nottingham Forest
69' Lingard's miserable night is over, with Mangala now on the field after recovering from a hamstring injury.
67' A hat-trick is on Maddison's mind, but the Leicester midfielder sees his latest strike sail past the far post from the edge of the box. He has now scored 50 for Leicester, so it comes as no surprise to see him shooting on sight.
65' OFFSIDE! The flag goes up as Dennis breaks through the Leicester defence before shooting past Ward's far post. The offside flag would have denied him even if the former Watford man had found the net.
J. Lingard
Yellow Card
Nottingham Forest
64' Lingard is shown a yellow card after nearly catching Justin in the face with a high boot.
63' The good news for Leicester is Maddison is back on the pitch, and willing to continue!
E. Dennis
T. Awoniyi
Nottingham Forest
62' Forest also alter their forward line with less than 30 minutes remaining as Awoniyi makes way for Dennis.
P. Daka
J. Vardy
Leicester City
62' No goal for Vardy tonight as he is replaced by Daka just past the hour mark.
61' The game comes to a halt as Maddison requires treatment after a collision with Lodi on the halfway line.
59' Leicester are unbeaten in their last 21 English Premier League matches when leading at half-time.
56' It was always going to be tough for Cooper to implement his ideas to a brand new squad, but Forest have played tonight like a team without a gameplan.
54' BLOCK! Cook gets his body in the way to deny Barnes from scoring, and Leicester will have to settle for a corner, despite appeals for a penalty.
50' CLOSE! The momentum is still firmly with Leicester, but the Foxes waste their latest chance to score a fourth goal. Rodgers' side put Forest under pressure thanks to their latest corner, only for Faes to blaze over on the half-volley.
47' Barnes tries to score his second of the evening at the start of the second 45 half, but his effort from outside the box is easily saved by Henderson.
47' We are back underway, with Cooper making three changes at the break to his team, while Rodgers made one alteration.
B. Soumaré
W. Ndidi
Leicester City
46' With Ndidi back from injury, Rodgers sends on Soumare for the second half.
S. Aurier
N. Williams
Nottingham Forest
46' Aurier makes his first appearance as he replaces Williams.
R. Yates
L. O'Brien
Nottingham Forest
46' Another change in midfield sees O'Brien make way for Yates.
R. Freuler
C. Kouyaté
Nottingham Forest
46' Cooper alters his midfield as Kouyate is replaced by Freuler.
While Forest have been second best throughout the first 45 minutes, Awoniyi should have converted their best chance of the first half. He latched onto Gibbs-White's pass, but his right-footed effort clipped the post instead of hitting the back of the net. Cooper needs to change something at the break, or his team could fall further behind.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Forest have been run ragged so far this evening. Leicester may have got lucky with their opening goal, as Maddison's shot deflected off McKenna, but they have deserved the lead after a courageous display. Barnes' powerful strike doubled their tally, while there was nothing fortunate about Leicester's third, thanks to Maddison's sensational free-kick. Leicester have needed a performance like this all season, and they are now just 45 minutes away from winning their first game of the campaign.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME - LEICESTER 3-0 FOREST.
45' Two minutes of stoppage time to come at the end of the first half!
43' Forest have been that bad tonight; it is a surprise to see Cooper stick with the same starting XI. They have only created one opportunity all evening, and they need a huge response in the second half to have any chance of drawing level.
40' There would have been numerous Leicester fans worried ahead of kick-off tonight, but in 40 minutes, those feelings will be long gone. Forest have been very poor, but Leicester have proven there is a real gulf in class between the two sides.
38' Leicester have scored four goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half; only Manchester City (7) have scored more in the English Premier League this season.
J. Maddison
Goal
Leicester City
35' GOAAALLLL - LEICESTER 3-0 FOREST - Maddison gets his second and Leicester's third with a sensational free-kick. The midfielder curled his strike over the wall and off the post, leaving Henderson to just stand and admire his work.
C. Kouyaté
Yellow Card
Nottingham Forest
33' Kouyate is the second Forest player to be booked after he brought down Dewsbury-Hall from behind on the edge of the box.
30' There is still plenty of time left in the first half, which is a worrying sign for Cooper and his Forest team.
J. Vardy
Assist
Leicester City
27' Vardy has wasted numerous chances already, but he showed what a team player he is. His pass wasn't that creative, but it was the best option for Rodgers' team, allowing Barnes to do the rest.
H. Barnes
Goal
Leicester City
27' WHAT A GOALLLLL - LEICESTER 2-0 FOREST - The Foxes are running riot at the King Power Stadium, and Barnes doubles their advantage. Maddison's long ball forward released Vardy down the left wing, who then turned back and picked out Barnes on the edge of the box. The winger did the rest, cutting inside before curling his shot into the far corner. A sublime counter-attacking goal, and Cooper's team look lost out there.
J. Maddison
Goal
Leicester City
25' GOAAALLL - LEICESTER 1-0 FOREST - Maddison continues his fine start to the season with a goal from outside the box. Forest failed to clear their lines, with Lingard's poor clearance falling at the feet of Maddison. The playmaker picked his spot, but his effort took a wicked deflection off McKenna, leaving Henderson no chance in the Forest goal.
22' OFF THE POST! Forest will feel they should be in front, but Awoniyi's effort hit the upright after a brilliant pass from Gibbs-White. Cooper's side carved their way through the middle of Leicester's defence, but their main striker failed to punish the home side.
19' CHANCE! After that handball from Williams, Leicester nearly opened the scoring from a Maddison free-kick. However, neither Barnes nor Vardy could latch onto the cross, and replays showed that any touch could have been enough to beat Henderson.
N. Williams
Yellow Card
Nottingham Forest
18' Williams is shown a yellow card for a handball, although it did not look intentional.
17' Forest have been second best in every department so far, and Cooper has decided to change his formation. He has deployed a 4-5-1 tactic for the time being, with Awoniyi now playing as the sole striker.
15' AGAIN! Two chances in one minute for Vardy, and Forest are really struggling to keep Leicester at bay. Vardy beat the offside trap, but Henderson narrowed down the angle and made a simple save at the near post.
14' CHANCE! Vardy wastes a glorious opportunity to head home, with the former England international unable to guide his header into the far corner.
12' WIDE! Leicester are starting to control the midfield battle, but Dewsbury-Hall wastes another opportunity to open the scoring. His latest chance was much harder than the header he missed, as he blasted his strike wide of goal from 25 yards out. Still, that was another sighting of the Forest goal, and the visitors are struggling to get a foothold in the game.
10' A collective sigh sweeps its way around the King Power Stadium as Leicester's corner is cleared at the front post.
10' CLOSE! Rodgers' side creates another decent opportunity, but Justin's shot takes a deflection onto the roof of the net. Corner to come...
8' Forest win another corner as Vardy heads Lodi's free-kick behind his own goal.
5' WIDE! Leicester should be in front, but Dewsbury-Hall fails to find the target inside the six-yard box. Maddison did all the work for him as he twisted and turned his way past Lodi before crossing to the far post. Dewsbury-Hall jumped up and met the pass easily, but he failed to find the target. What a start that would have been for Leicester!
3' The Foxes can breathe a sigh of relief as Forest defender Cook is flagged offside, and the attack comes to nothing.
2' Forest fire back quickly, and they now have another corner to come after seeing their first cleared behind.
2' Leicester fly out of the blocks as Dewsbury-Hall shoots from the edge of the box, but he is met by a sarcastic cheer by the Forest fans after blazing his shot into the stands.
1' We are underway in Leicester!
The two teams are making their way onto the field of play at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester have won just one of their last seven league meetings with Forest, with this the first time the sides have faced in the league since a 2-2 draw at the City Ground in February 2014.
