Commentary

Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
Juventus, who have now won 18 of their 20 Serie A match this season, return to action next Sunday with a trip to top-four chasing Lazio. Basement boys Chievo take on Fiorentina on the same day, meanwhile, with time fast running out to get some points on the board.
Juventus see off bottom side Chievo 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium to move nine points clear at the top of Serie A. Costa and Can got off the mark with their first goals of the season in the first half, before Rugani killed off the match for good with a simple header six minutes from time. The visitors had Sorrentino to thank for staying in the game as long as they did, with the veteran goalkeeper producing a few big stops, including a penalty save to keep Ronaldo off the scoresheet.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: JUVENTUS 3-0 CHIEVO
90' + 1' Chievo mount an attack as we enter added time, but the ball into the box is easily cut out. Juventus have defended well in this second half and are good value for their victory, even if they have not quite been at their best.
M. Kean
Alex Sandro
89' Allegri makes another late change, bringing on Kean for Alex Sandro. Not really long enough for the youngster to prove himself, really!
88' Dybala dribbles past a couple of men but he is thwarted by Sorrentino before he can get a shot away. Juventus are now cruising towards the finish line thanks to Rugani's headed goal, putting them three up late on.
L. Spinazzola
F. Bernardeschi
86' Bernardeschi has had a good game, leaving the field with an assist to his name for that third goal. Spinazzola comes on in his place for the final four minutes.
F. Bernardeschi
Assist
84' Ronaldo left the free-kick to Bernardeschi and the winger sent a perfect left-sided delivery into the middle for Rugani to convert.
D. Rugani
Goal
84' GOOOOAAALLL!!! JUVENTUS 3-0 CHIEVO! Rugani kills the game off for good with a straightforward header into the bottom corner of the net. Bernardeschi takes over set-piece duties and clips the ball to the edge of the six-yard box, where the centre-back is left pretty much unmarked to send the ball spinning past a rooted Sorrentino.
S. Kiyine
Yellow Card
83' Kiyine is the third player to be cautioned following his late tackle on Matuidi.
82' Ronaldo tries to curl the ball towards the corner but it takes a deflection and goes wide. Into the final 10 minutes of the match in Turin and it is end-to-end stuff.
80' BERNARDESCHI COMES CLOSE! The save count is starting to rack up now, as Sorrentino gets behind Bernardeschi's shot from 20 yards. It is a good attempt from the winger, who connects perfectly with the half-volley to send it towards the bottom corner.
M. De Sciglio
Yellow Card
80' De Sciglio is booked for barging into Meggiorini to halt the Chievo counter.
79' POOR FROM RONALDO! This is turning into a bit of a stinker for Ronaldo. Dybala threads the ball through for the forward but he skews his shot well wide with just Sorrentino to beat. Had he been at his best, Ronaldo could have easily had three or four today.
78' The ball is sprayed out to Bernardeschi on the right. The winger cuts inside but the angle is still against him and the shot is easy for Sorrentino to deal with at his near post.
R. Bentancur
Douglas Costa
76' Bentancur is on for Costa to bring back some control of midfield. Juventus have been far from their best today, even if they do boast a two-goal lead.
74' ANOTHER CHANCE GOES BEGGING FOR RONALDO! This has not been one of Ronaldo's best showings, it is fair to say. The forward has already missed from the penalty spot today and he scuffs this latest shot - from Can's cutback - into the ground and wide of goal.
72' PERIN WITH ANOTHER SAVE! Rossettini is invited to shoot and he does exactly that, pulling the trigger from close to 30 yards with an attempt that Perin can only parry. Chievo, bottom of Serie A, are enjoying their best spell of the match but they cannot find a way through.
70' Bernardeschi is not far wide at all with his shot from from range, which does not quite dip enough to get the beating of Sorrentino. Kiyine curls a shot over the bar from 25 yards at the other end of the field.
68' BIG CHANCE FOR MEGGIORINI! Giaccherini spots Meggiorini unmarked towards the back post, but the header is straight at Perin. The striker had plenty of the goal to aim for and should be doing better from that position.
P. Jaroszyński
F. Depaoli
66' Jaroszynski is now on for Depaoli as the visitors make their third and final change, despite there being 25 minutes to play.
M. Stępiński
S. Pellissier
65' Pellissier, who was denied a strong penalty appeal in the first half, is replaced by Stepinski.
65' Not sure if De Sciglio was shooting or crossing here, but the ball goes behind for a corner. It looks as though Di Carlo is about to make another sub...
64' Dybala gets away a snapshot which Sorrentino is equal to. Juventus are going through the motions a little at the moment, knowing that their two-goal lead is probably unassailable.
E. Vignato
P. Hetemaj
61' Di Carlo makes the first substitution of the match, bringing on teenage midfielder Vignato for Hetemaj.
60' The ball is crying out for Giaccherini to strike it goalwards, but he passes up the opportunity to do so and Juventus force him away from goal. Chievo are starting to build some pressure now with an hour played.
58' Chievo have taken the sting out of the match over the past couple of minutes. The visitors have not created anything for a while, but they have at least managed to keep their opponents quiet at the other end of the field.
56' Meggiorini and Chiellini exchange words but the referee helps to calm things down. Juventus' possession count has gone past the 60 per cent mark in the second half, but they have so far failed to add to their two first-half strikes.
54' Juventus have dominated the opening 10 minutes of the second half and should have a third goal to show for it. Ronaldo's missed penalty has left the door slightly ajar for Chievo to potentially snatch a point.
S. Sorrentino
Penalty Save
52' A reminder that veteran goalkeeper Sorrentino turns 40 in March! Ronaldo could not quite find the bottom corner and Sorrentino was there to palm the ball wide of the post.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Penalty Miss
52' RONALDO MISSES FROM THE SPOT! Sorrentino keeps out Ronaldo's penalty at full stretch to give his side a lifeline!
M. Bani
Yellow Card
51' To add insult to injury, the referee shows the game's first yellow card to Bani for his handball infringement.
51' PENALTY TO JUVENTUS! Bani charges down Costa's shot and it is deemed to be handball by the officials. There was not a lot of distance between the ball when it left Costa's foot and Bani's hand, but it is a penalty nonetheless...
50' Costa has scored four of his five Serie A goals during the first 25 minutes of play in matches.
48' INCREDIBLE STOP! Sorrentino keeps his side just about in the game with an impressive save to deny Alex Sandro. The full-back made good connection with Costa's cross but could not find a way through.
46' Juventus, on course for a 10th home victory of the season, get us back underway at the Allianz Stadium!
The home side were on top for the final 10 minutes of the half, though Chievo also enjoyed a couple of promising moments as Meggiorini had a shot kept out by back-up keeper Perin and Pellissier was denied a penalty moments before Juve scored their second goal. Allegri's men may be a couple of goals to the good, but this one is not over quite yet.
Juventus take a two-goal lead into the interval against bottom side Chievo thanks to first goals of the season for Costa and Can. Costa opened the scoring 13 minutes in with a nice finish into the bottom corner after carrying the ball 20 yards through the middle of the pitch, while Can's strike on the brink of half-time was from closer range but was equally as clinical.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: JUVENTUS 2-0 CHIEVO
E. Can
Goal
45' GOOOAAALLL!!! JUVENTUS 2-0 CHIEVO! A first goal of the season for Costa a little earlier and now a first goal in Juve colours for Can to double his side's tally at the end of a flowing move. It is a well-worked goal, with Dybala feeding the ball through to Can, who controls the ball with his first touch and sends it out of Sorrentino's reach with his second.
P. Dybala
Assist
45' Costa played the ball into the feet of Dybala and the Argentina forward dribbled past a couple of players before rolling it into the path of Can 15 yards from goal. A fine assist and a brilliant finish.
44' PENALTY APPEAL! Pellissier is nudged in the back by Rugani - enough contact to prevent him from reaching the cross - but the referee clearly did not see it. Pellissier sends a half-volley over the bar from the next attacking move.
43' Alex Sandro makes good inroads down the left but his cross is well overhit. Chievo need to hold on for another few minutes - a one-goal deficit at half-time is far from a disaster when playing away to Juventus.
41' Radovanovic's shot from 25 yards rises high over the crossbar, Perin watching it all the way. The Chievo midfielder claims that it took a deflection but the referee - disliked by both sides at the moment - feels otherwise.
39' Juve counter but it is rather wasted as Ronaldo goes to ground on the edge of the box. He wants a free-kick but the referee waves away his appeals.
38' Juve are starting to dominate the match now. Chievo's players back off a little too much and invite Ronaldo to take on the shot, which ends wide of the target. The former Real Madrid man is clearly still finding his range!
36' SAVE! Chievo are having to work very hard to keep their opponents at bay. Bernardeschi's shot from 17 yards takes a touch off Tomovic, but Sorrentino manages to adjust his body to keep out the ball with his legs.
34' GOOD HANDLING! Ronaldo gets a yard on his marker and sends a bullet shot on target for Sorrentino to deal with. The Chievo keeper not only keeps out the low effort but also keeps two hands on the ball to prevent a Juve player from scoring a tap-in.
32' Alex Sandro gets his head to Giaccherini's free-kick, sending it back towards goalkeeper Perin. Juventus have seen 61 per cent of the ball in the opening 32 minutes and have a one-goal lead to build on.
30' CHANCE! This has to go down as a chance for Rugani, who fails to keep his header down when picked out in the middle by Dybala's whipped free-kick.
28' Dybala's shot from distance lacks the power to beat Sorrentino. Juventus have not done enough to warrant a second goal, but they are starting to see more and more of the ball.
26' Kiyine does well to create some space down the right, but after doing the hard work his cross evades each of his team-mates. Juventus hit their opponents on the counter and Bernardeschi wins his side a corner after charging into the box.
24' Can, yet to register a goal since joining Juventus last year, sends a shot well off target.
23' The ball rolls across the edge of the 18-yard box and Ronaldo puts his foot through it, but Bani is in the right place to block the shot before it can trouble Sorrentino in the Chievo goal.
21' Juventus are in control of the match, patiently probing away in search of a second. Chievo are also enjoying spells on the ball, though, and they are not afraid to commit bodies forward.
19' In the current Serie A campaign, Chievo and Juventus forward Ronaldo have scored the same number of goals (both 14).
17' The referee Marco Piccinini goes to VAR but it is decided that Rossettini's challenge on Ronaldo is not worthy of a full review. Play continues, with Juventus a goal to the good.
15' Rossettini clatters into Ronaldo inside the box but appears to escape any action. Ronaldo is furious and wants the officials to check VAR, so we may well have a penalty after all...
Douglas Costa
Goal
13' GOOOAAALLL!!! JUVENTUS 1-0 CHIEVO! Costa opens the scoring for Juve with his first goal of the campaign. The Brazil winger carries the ball a good 20 yards through the middle of the pitch before picking out the bottom corner from outside the box, invited to do so by Radovanovic and Bani after they both turned their backs.
P. Dybala
Assist
13' Dybala picked out Costa to claim the assist but this was all about the work of the Brazilian, going it alone from just inside his own half.
12' Costa has been Juve's liveliest player in the early stages of the match, trying his best to make something happen down the right. Bernardeschi floats the ball in from the other wing but it floats over Ronaldo's head.
10' Some good link-up play between Costa and Alex Sandro leads to Juve's first corner of the match which, just like Chievo's a couple of minutes ago, fails to beat the first man. Poor delivery!
8' After getting in the first shot on target of the contest, Chievo go and win the game's first corner, which disappointingly comes to little.
7' Bernardeschi flashes the ball right across the six-yard box but Ronaldo does not react quickly enough. That has to go down as a chance for Ronaldo, who has made a habit of burying those down the years.
5' FIRST SAVE! Meggiorini gets a shot away from a tight angle, which Perin - in for the rested Szczesny today - is able to parry to safety. Chievo are certainly not playing like a side rooted to the foot of the table.
3' Chiellini plays a sloppy pass but Chievo cannot take advantage. Neither side can keep hold of the ball in what has been a slow start to proceedings.
1' Chievo, aiming to avoid being cut off at the bottom of the division, get us underway at the Allianz Stadium!
The two teams are now out on the field at the Allianz Stadium and we are moments away from kick-off. Juventus can move nine points clear of closest challengers Napoli with victory in this game in hand on the chasing pack, while Chievo - beaten just once in their last eight league matches - find themselves nine points adrift of safety ahead of this daunting test.
Juventus have won 12 of their last 13 Serie A meetings with Chievo, a 1-1 draw in September 2015 the exception. Juve have never lost in 15 top-flight matches at home to Chievo, meanwhile, scoring 45 goals during that sequence.
Chievo make three changes from their win against Frosinone, including an alteration in the backline as Tomovic comes in for Federico Barba, meaning Bani will revert to left-back. Valter Birsa was recently sold to Cagliari, explaining his absence from the side, while Djordjevic is dropped to the bench - Meggiorini and Kiyine come into the starting line-up in their places. Pellissier, who scored a hat-trick against Juventus in April 2009, starts up top alongside the returning Meggiorini.
Massimiliano Allegri has rotated his side on the back of the 1-0 Supercoppa Italiania win over AC Milan last week, leaving out Szczesny, Bonucci and Bentancur, who all drop down to the bench. There is also no Miralem Pjanic today due to suspension, while Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado, Andrea Barzagli and Medhi Benatia are carrying injuries. This is still a strong Juve XI, however, with Ronaldo, Dybala, Bernardeschi and Costa all shoehorned into the side.
Chievo subs: Nicola Rigoni, Mehdi Leris, Mariusz Stepinski, Elia Caprile, Strahinja Tanasijevic, Filip Djordjevic, Adrian Semper, Pawel Jaroszynski, Bostjan Cesar, Emanuel Vignato, Mauro Burruchaga, Sergej Grubac
CHIEVO XI (4-3-1-2): Stefano Sorrentino; Fabio Depaoli, Nenad Tomovic, Luca Rossettini, Mattia Bani; Perparim Hetemaj, Ivan Radovanovic, Sofian Kiyine; Emanuele Giaccherini; Sergio Pellissier (c), Riccardo Meggiorini
Juventus subs: Leonardo Spinazzola, Carlo Pinsoglio, Sami Khedira, Joao Cancelo, Rodrigo Bentancur, Leonardo Bonucci, Moise Kean, Wojciech Szczesny
JUVENTUS XI (4-4-2): Mattia Perin; Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Giorgio Chiellini (c), Alex Sandro; Federico Bernardeschi, Emre Can, Blaise Matuidi, Douglas Costa; Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo
Juve resume their title charge with a home match against the division’s bottom-place side, who picked up their first win of the season in their final outing before the winter break - a 1-0 home victory over Frosinone. Domenico Di Carlo's side face the toughest of tests today, though, as they come up against a side that has dropped points in just two of their 19 matches so far.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Serie A meeting between Juventus and Chievo at the Allianz Stadium.
