Goodison Park

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Everton have now drawn their last four Premier League games and next up for them is a trip to Arsenal as they look for their first win of the season. Meanwhile Liverpool will turn their attentions to the Champions League in midweek as they face Napoli, before facing Wolves at the weekend in the league.
The Merseyside derby ends goalless, mainly down to an excellent display in goal by Pickford and the woodwork, after Davies hit the post for Everton, before Nunez and Diaz were denied by the goalframe later in the first half. Everton thought they’d gone ahead on 69 minutes, after Coady turned the ball home from close range, but VAR ruled it out as the defender had narrowly strayed into an offside position. The chances then kept on coming for both sides, with Pickford pulling off great saves to deny Firmino on three occasions, who did well after coming off the bench. Meanwhile Maupay and McNeil had good chances at the other end, but Alisson was alert to prevent an Everton goal. Salah should have won it in stoppage time, but Pickford was there once again to tip it onto the post and it finished 0-0.
J. Pickford
Yellow Card
90' + 6' Pickford is booked for timewasting with a goal-kick late on.
90' + 5' OFF THE POST! Salah should score in stoppage time! Liverpool switch the ball quickly and Salah gets it in space in the box and drills a low shot towards the bottom right corner. However, Pickford does brilliantly to tip it onto the post! What a save!
90' + 4' We're deep into stoppage time now and Liverpool are seeing more of the ball, but haven't been able to create anything in the final third as we enter the final few minutes.
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Fabinho is booked for a blatant block on Gueye as he looked to break forward.
90' There will be a minimum of six minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
89' It looks like it may end up being a draw here, as Everton are performing well at the back and Liverpool just haven't been at their best today.
87' CHANCE! Salah delivers a wonderful ball into the box and Firmino meets it in the middle and flicks it towards goal, but Pickford reacts quickly and makes another brilliant stop.
86' There's not long left to play now, can either side nick a winner late on? It's end-to-end still, with chances for both teams.
84' SAVE! Alisson produces a superb save to deny McNeil after the winger cuts inside and curls an effort towards the top left corner of the net. However, the Liverpool keeper reads it well and produces a fine stop to tip it over the bar.
D. McNeil
A. Gordon
82' Lampard makes another Everton change now, with Gordon replaced by McNeil.
Diogo Jota
D. Núñez
80' Nunez is the other to make way, with Jota his replacement.
J. Matip
H. Elliott
80' Final Liverpool changes now, as Elliott heads off and on comes Matip.
78' Onana has to receive some treatment following the Van Dijk challenge, but it looks like he'll be fine to continue.
V. van Dijk
Yellow Card
76' Van Dijk is booked for a poor, late challenge on Onana and is rightly shown a yellow card.
75' Liverpool may have one eye on their opening Champions League game in midweek against Napoli, with Klopp getting a couple more changes ready on the sidelines.
73' It's anyone's guess which way this game will go now, it's been an excellent second half and it might be that one goal will be enough to separate the two sides.
71' NO GOAL! VAR deem that Coady is offside and the goal is ruled out so it remains 0-0. Huge blow for Everton.
70' The replays show that Coady may be just slightly offside and VAR are taking a long look at the goal, but unfortunately for the home side, it looks like it will be ruled out.
69' EVERTON GOAL? Gray delivers a deep cross towards the far post which Maupay controls and he drills a shot towards the bottom right corner, which appears to be heading wide, but it doesn’t matter as Coady sneaks in and sends it into the back of the net from close range. However, it looks like VAR are going to take a look as Coady may be offside.
68' If Everton are going to score, it'll surely come on the back of a counter-attack, as they look very dangerous on the break and it's end-to-end at times.
67' It's somehow still goalless here between Everton and Liverpool, but there have been a lot of Liverpool chances in this second period. However, as shown by the Everton opportunity a couple of minutes ago, they could catch the Reds out on the counter.
65' SAVE! Everton counter quickly and open up Liverpool at the back, with Maupay receiving a pull back in the box and he should score, but Alisson makes himself as big as possible and makes a big stop.
64' CHANCES! Pickford keeps Everton in it with three excellent saves in quick succession to deny Liverpool. Firmino with two opportunities, the first from a low strike, before popping up with a header, but Pickford superbly denies him on both occasions. Fabinho then steps up, but again his shot is brilliantly stopped by the Everton keeper.
63' BLOCKED! Gordon does brilliantly down the left wing, cuts inside and feeds the overlapping Patterson, who smashes an effort towards goal. However, Gomez reads it and makes a good block to turn it behind for a corner.
I. Gueye
T. Davies
62' Everton now make their first change as Davies makes way for Gueye.
61' Three of Salah’s four Premier League goals for Liverpool against Everton have come at Goodison Park. Only Michael Owen (4) has scored more away goals for the Reds against the Toffees in the competition.
J. Milner
T. Alexander-Arnold
59' Another straight swap at full-back, with Alexander-Arnold the other to depart and Milner is his replacement.
A. Robertson
K. Tsimikas
59' Double Liverpool substitution, the first sees Tsimikas head off the pitch and on comes Robertson.
58' It looks like Liverpool are getting ready to make a couple more changes. They are on top and are camped inside the Everton half at the moment.
56' Not too far away! Iwobi has a go from distance after the ball falls nicely to him in the final third. However, the midfielders strike flies wide and doesn't trouble Alisson.
54' Good stop! Nunez fires a first-time shot towards goal, which Pickford reads quickly and makes a good save. Either side of the keeper and that would have caused him more problems.
52' Liverpool have made a good start to the second half, with Firmino getting on the ball early on and looks dangerous in the final third. Will we see the opening goal soon?
50' Decent chance! Maupay goes for the spectacular effort after a cross in from Iwobi, he controls it well and then flicks it over his head towards goal. However, it flies over the crossbar.
49' CLOSE! Elliot drills a low cross into the box, but Firmino can't quite reach it and it falls to Tsimikas at the far post, who has a go from a tight angle. However, he can't get his effort on target and it flies wide.
48' It will be interesting to see what formation Liverpool play with now that Firmino is on the pitch, as he's much more attacking than Carvalho and wants to be closer to Nunez.
47' Good move! Diaz is released deep down the left wing, he cuts the ball back to Nunez in the box, who gets his feet a bit mixed up and his shot flies well wide of the Everton goal.
46' The second half is under way!
Roberto Firmino
Fábio Carvalho
46' Liverpool have made a change ahead of the second half, with Firmino coming on and he replaces Carvalho, who picked up an injury towards the end of the first period.
Liverpool started the game on top, but Everton grew into it and looked dangerous in the final third, with Gordon causing a lot of problems for the visitors' defence. There could be a few goals scored in the second half, after a lot of positive attacking play in the opening half.
Despite numerous chances for both teams, including three efforts striking the woodwork, it's goalless at Goodison between Everton and Liverpool. Gordon forced Alisson into a good save following a corner, before Davies hit the post with a shot in the box after Maupay's initial effort was blocked. Meanwhile Nunez has gone close twice, firstly with a header before being superbly denied by Pickford late on, as the keeper tipped his shot onto the crossbar. Diaz met the rebound and his curling strike hit the right post.
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes of added time played at the end of the first half.
43' LIVERPOOL CHANCES! So close to an opener! First Nunez controls a deep ball over the top and fires a superb shot towards goal, but Pickford makes an excellent fingertip save to push it onto the crossbar. However, Everton don't clear the danger and Diaz picks it up, cuts inside onto his right and curls an effort towards the top-right corner, but it strikes the post!
42' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can either side break the deadlock before the half-time whistle?
40' Decent chance! Salah delivers a deep cross into the box and Nunez does well to meet it at the far post, but he powers his header over the crossbar, not troubling Pickford.
39' Worry here for Liverpool as Carvalho remains down and is receiving some medical treatment, with Arthur getting ready on the sidelines just in case he needs to make an early debut.
A. Onana
Yellow Card
38' Onana is shown the first yellow card of the game as he dives in late on Carvalho and the Liverpool midfielder looks in a bit of trouble.
36' Good spell now for Liverpool, keeping it well in midfield, despite Everton pressing high and not giving them much time in possession. Nunez and Salah haven't been involved much so far today.
34' Liverpool look a little rattled now. Their early possession and dominance has gone and Everton are on top and look more dangerous in front of goal.
32' OFF THE POST! Everton should score! Gordon does brilliantly in the final third and skips past a couple of players, before the ball comes to Maupay, who can't sort his feet out quick enough, so his shot is blocked, before the ball falls to Davies. The midfielder pokes it towards the top left corner, but it strikes the post! Best chance so far.
31' We’re past the half-hour mark now and it remains goalless between Everton and Liverpool. However, the home side are on top at the moment.
29' Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League away games against Everton (W3 D8) since a 2-0 loss in October 2010. Following a 4-1 win in this exact fixture last season, they’re looking for back-to-back victories at Goodison Park for the first time since a run of three between 2007 and 2009.
27' Almost! Diaz throws himself at a deep free-kick into the penalty area, but he just can't reach it and luckily for Everton, Pickford is there to gather and clear the danger.
25' Tsimikas has given away a few free-kicks in the last couple of minutes, and he'll need to be careful that he doesn't pick up a yellow card soon. You can feel the Everton supporters urging the referee to book him.
23' CHANCE! The ball falls nicely to Gordon on the edge of the Liverpool box following a corner and the winger fires a first-time shot towards the bottom-right corner. However, Alisson reads it well and makes a good save.
22' There's not much separating the two sides so far, with plenty of pace to the game and the atmosphere is electric at Goodison.
20' Penalty shout! Gray feeds Patterson deep down the right wing and the full-back tries to deliver a cross, but Tsimikas makes a good block with his body. The home supporters appeal for a penalty, but nothing is given by the referee.
18' CHANCE! Alexander-Arnold whips a superb cross into the box from the right wing and Nunez meets it at the far post, getting above Patterson and powering a header towards goal. However, he doesn't get the required direction on it and the ball flies wide.
16' The game has settled down in the last few minutes after a frantic opening period. The referee is allowing play to continue as much as he can so far, with a few tempers being flared already.
14' The Everton defence are doing a good job of keeping the attacking three of Liverpool quiet so far, with much of the visitors' possession coming in the middle of the pitch, rather than in the final third.
12' Everton have won just one of their last 23 Premier League meetings with Liverpool (D12 L10), a 2-0 victory at Anfield in February 2021 under Carlo Ancelotti.
10' This is much better from the hosts, not allowing Liverpool as much time on the ball and they are causing the visitors a few problems at the back, just lacking the quality in front of goal.
8' CHANCE! Liverpool lose the ball in a dangerous position in their own half and Everton break into the final third, with Gray feeding Maupay. He tries to drill a shot towards the bottom-right corner, but it's off target. Gordon isn't too far away from it, but it goes out of play.
6' Good move! Everton counter quickly and catch Liverpool out at the back, with Maupay sliding the ball through to Onana on the overlap. However, the midfielder gets pushed out wide and his low strike is easily cut out by Alisson.
5' Everton have everyone back behind the ball at the moment, camped inside their own half as Liverpool continue to press forward in search of an early goal. The visitors have an attacking line-up today, with Carvalho and Elliott in midfield.
3' Liverpool with the early possession in the opening few minutes of the game, but every touch is being loudly booed by the home supporters. The visitors win an early corner, can they create something straight away?
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
Meanwhile Jurgen Klopp has made three changes to his starting line-up, with Jordan Henderson out injured so he misses out, while Robertson and Firmino drop to the bench. Carvalho comes in, as does Tsimikas, and there’s a return to the side for Nunez following his three-match suspension.
Frank Lampard makes one change to his side that drew with Leeds on Tuesday, as McNeil drops to the bench and in comes Maupay. There is a place on the bench for Gueye, who re-joined the club earlier this week from PSG.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Adrian, Diogo Jota, Andrew Robertson, Arthur Melo, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, Nat Phillips.

It’s the first Merseyside derby of the season and Everton come into the game on the back of three successive 1-1 draws against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds. The Toffees are yet to win their first game so far this campaign, so they sit 17th in the table.
