Crystal Palace v Wolverhampton Wanderers Live Commentary, 18/10/2022

2 - 1
E. Eze (47)
W. Zaha (70)
Adama Traoré (31)
Selhurst Park

That's all for tonight. Thank you for tuning in!
The win moves Palace up to 10th, with 13 points, while Wolves slide all the way down to 17th. They are one of three clubs with nine points, but with a goal difference of -9, they dangerously hover right above relegation.
They may have conceded first through a Traore header in the first half, but Palace dug deep and were on it from the moment they came back out of the tunnel. Eze scored for the hosts a minute after half-time with a bouncing header going past Jose Sa, and the main man himself, Zaha, scored the winner, perfectly placing his shot to seal the victory.

86' SO CLOSE! Neves takes a shot, and it forces a good save. The rebound lands at Hodge's feet, who attempts to dribble closer to the centre of the box, but he's crowded out.
85' Doucoure is receiving treatment after seemingly stretching his hamstring. Something also seems to be happening on the sidelines as well, as some of the Palace fans boo Costa, who is up from the bench and looking confused.
82' Moutinho takes a shot from a slight angle, but it's well above the bar.

Hwang Hee-Chan
Diego Costa
Wolverhampton Wanderers
75' Costa's night is over as he makes way for Hwang.
74' Tensions flaring here as Costa and Andersen go at it. The referee intervenes, and the Palace man is lucky to not see a yellow for pulling the striker to the ground.
O. Édouard
Crystal Palace
70' Edouard did well to wait for Zaha rather than attack the goal by himself in an attempt to score. The right call in the end!
W. Zaha
Crystal Palace
70' GOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! WHO ELSE BUT ZAHA?! It's a counterattack situation, and Edouard attracts the defender and lays it off to Zaha. The winger, who had a chance saved moments earlier, picks his shot, and fires one home. Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves.
68' Some good build-up play from Palace ends up with Olise flicking the ball towards Edouard with the inside of his boot. The striker goes for the bycicle kick shot, but it's wide off the near post.
65' Bueno gets the better of Ward, but his pass in the box is too short, and Palace knock it away from danger.
65' It's been very back-and-forth these last few minutes, but both teams are a bit frantic and erratic in their play right now. There is still lots of time to settle and look for a winner.
59' Hodge gets a chance as soon as he comes on, but he takes too long to shoot, and the ball is taken off of him.

52' Patrick Vieira has drawn a higher share of his Premier League games with Crystal Palace than any other Eagles manager in the competition’s history (40% - 19 of 47) – the Eagles have drawn 11 Premier League matches in 2022, the most of any side in this calendar year.
M. Olise
Crystal Palace
47' Olise received the ball from Zaha, and while Wolves players were surrounding him, he still managed to cut inside and get the pass up towards Eze.
E. Eze
Crystal Palace
47' GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLL! CRYSTAL PALACE WITH AN INSTANT RESPONSE! Eze is completely open and receives the ball from the other end of the box. He heads it downwards, and it bounces once before going in past Sa, with the Wolves defenders ball-watching. Crystal Palace 1-1 Wolves.
46' Boos from the home end rang out from the home fans at the end of the first half, seemingly towards the referee. This has already been a tense game, so we'll see if the players can keep their head this half!
46' We're underway for the second half!
As it stands, Wolves are 12th in the table, while Palace are in 14th. With only two points separating the two sides, there is a lot to play for in the second half!
It was all Crystal Palace in the opening minutes, but Wolves defended well. And when the chance came, the away team took it, catching Palace out of position as Adama Traore headed the sole goal of the half in the 31st minute. From then on, the match became quite scrappy as Palace looked to equalise quickly. They just couldn't find the spaces in Wolves' backline, and they'll have their work cut out for them in the second 45 minutes.
45' + 5' NEVES HITS THE POST! His shot slams across the woodwork, and it comes back out. Before a Wolves player can react, it's cleared. Neves' hands are on his head in disappointment! Guaita literally did not move from his spot, so it would have been a sure goal had it been on target. So close!!
45' + 4' Wolves break, and Adama Traore sprints across the field. He's brought down right on the edge of the box by Doucoure, and Traore stares in disbelief as the ref opts not to book anyone. Still, Wolves get a free-kick in a dangerous area.
C. Doucouré
Yellow Card
Crystal Palace
45' + 4' Yellow Card Cheick Oumar Doucouré

45' Due to the injuries, we will be getting at least four minutes of added time in the first half.
43' Having kept a clean sheet in each of their last five Premier League home games last season, Crystal Palace have now conceded at least once in each of their six at Selhurst Park so far this season.

Hugo Bueno
Wolverhampton Wanderers
31' That was certainly a team goal! It started at the back and after some brilliant combination between Neves and Podence, Bueno receives the ball. The youngster has all the time and all the space in the world to cross it in at the far post.
Adama Traoré
Wolverhampton Wanderers
31' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! That is certainly against the run of play! Adama Traore heads in the ball from a cross by Bueno. The home crowd are silenced and Adama Traore's name is being chanted loud and clear from the away end. Crystal Palace 0-1 Wolves.
29' Boubacar Traore trips up Eze as the Palace player attempts to turn towards goal. The referee doesn't book him, and boos ring around Selhurst Park.
27' From a Palace corner, Wolves clear, but the Eze crosses it in again. Andersen gets a head on it, and the ball shoots straight up, before coming back down on the top of the net.
25' Zaha is fouled, and Palace win a free-kick outside the box towards the centre of the pitch. Eze takes the shot, and it's over the wall, but off-target.
23' Palace players charge forward on the attack, and Olise receives the ball on the right. He cuts inside, but he's met by a swarm of defenders and the ball is taken off him.
19' Wolves win the ball back Nunes passes it from the byline to Neves, whose operating in the middle of the pitch. The Wolves captain brings it down with a fantastic touch. He's in a ton of space, but with Palace having more players back, he opts to shoot, and the ball sails wide.
16' Palace get a corner, and Wolves clear. The ball goes back into the box, and Guehi gets his head on it, but it's wide.
11' Kilman makes an interception and ensures that Olise's ball doesn't get to Edouard.
8' Neves spots Traore attempting a run and tries a rather ambitious pass, but Mitchell heads the ball clear.
6' WOLVES ALMOST SCORE! Moments after Palace hit the woodwork, Podence puts Costa through on goal. The striker does well to evade Ward, but his shot just deflects off of Guaita, and it's wide. He might've hit the back of the net had he just taken the shot rather than taken a couple of touches first. Wow! Good defending from Ward!
5' PALACE CHANCE! Doucoure takes a shot from distance, and it smashes off the post!
4' An early foul from Andersen on Diego Costa near the touchline. This is Costa's second match with Wolves, and fans certainly have high hopes for him.
1' The referee has blown the whistle, and we are underway!
The teams come out of the tunnel and are greeted by a lively Selhurst Park. We'll be underway soon!
Crystal Palace’s Zaha has scored in each of his last two appearances against Wolves in the Premier League (two goals) – only once previously has he netted in three games in a row against an opponent in the competition, doing so against Leicester in February 2019.
For Wolves, Collins has now served his three-game ban after his red card against Manchester City and is back in the starting XI alongside Kilman in central defence. Rayan Ait-Nouri is not in the squad, surprisingly, meaning there may have been a last-minute fitness issue.
Mitchell starts for Palace despite the left-back not basing able to complete a full match since recovering from illness. Despite Zaha coming off in the 77th minute against Leicester, he retains his starting position alongside Edouard and Olise up top.
SUBS: Hwang Hee-chan, Matija Sarkic, Yerson Mosquera, Goncalo Guedes, Jonny, Connor Ronan, Joao Moutinho, Joe Hodge, Chem Campbell.
WOLVES (4-3-3): Josa Sa; Nelson Semedo, Max Kilman, Nathan Collins, Hugo Bueno; Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Boubacar Traore; Adama Traore, Diego Costa, Daniel Podence.
SUBS: Luka Milivojevic, James Tomkins, Jordan Ayew, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Sam Johnstone, Malcolm Ebiowei, Kofi Balmer, Jairo Riedewald, Owen Goodman.
CRYSTAL PALACE (4-3-3): Vicente Guaita; Joel Ward, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell; Eberechi Eze, Cheick Doucoure, Jeffrey Schlupp; Michael Olise, Odsonne Edouard, Wilfried Zaha.
Neither of these teams have been spectacular in front of goal as of late, and with Palace failing to score in their 0-0 draw agaisnt Leicester City last week, they'll want to prove a point tonight. Wolves nabbed their first win since September in a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and will hope that they can register back-to-back wins.
