Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Barcelona face a crunch clash at the weekend in LaLiga in their next outing, taking on Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday. Dortmund face off against Hertha Berlin on the road in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Barcelona book their place in the Champions League round of 16 with a comfortable 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund this evening. Goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann secured the victory for the home side, capitalising on mistakes by the Dortmund backline to put their opponents to the sword. Jadon Sancho did notch a consolation for the German outfit with a fine strike into the top-right corner. However, it was too little too late for Dortmund, who now need to beat Slavia Prague in their last match and hope Barca do them a favour against Inter Milan in order to advance from Group F.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: BARCELONA 3-1 BORUSSIA DORTMUND
90' + 2' Brandt sends a teasing low cross into the box from the right, but Ter Stegen is brave in the six-yard area and gets a hand to it before gathering at the second attempt.
M. Wagué
L. Suárez
90' + 1' Wague comes on to replace Suarez for the closing stages.
90' There will be three minutes of added time.
89' Favre may be regretting his decision to not play Sancho from the off. He has been impressive down the left flank since his arrival.
87' OFF THE BAR! Sancho almost sets up a tense finale as he sees his strike saved by Ter Stegen, tipping a powerful shot on to the bar. Gotze and Guerreiro combine down the left to tee up the forward. He strikes at goal with menace, but the Barca keeper is equal to the challenge to make the stop.
M. Götze
J. Weigl
85' Gotze is on for Dortmund to replace Weigl in the middle of the park.
83' Sancho has become just the fourth different Englishman to score a Champions League goal against Barcelona at Camp Nou, after Andy Cole, Steve McManaman and Frank Lampard.
82' Witsel lifts the ball over the top of the Barca defence for Brandt, but the midfielder is offside. If he leaves it for Reus in the box, the Dortmund skipper was in a better position to strike at goal.
79' In their last outing in Europe Borussia Dortmund recovered from two goals down to beat Inter Milan, winning 3-2 – it was the first time they had ever recovered from two or more goals to win in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the 20th different team to do so. Can they go one better this time?
A. Vidal
I. Rakitić
78' Vidal replaces Rakitic in the middle of the park for the home side.
J. Brandt
Assist
77' Brandt works the ball back to Sancho, who does the rest with a super finish.
J. Sancho
Goal
77' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! SANCHO SCORES A STUNNER!!!! 3-1!!! Dortmund may be going on to lose here, but Sancho gets a goal back with a brilliant strike. He latches on to Brandt's knockback on the edge of the box and with little back lift he powers a right-footed strike into the top-right corner. Ter Stegen was surprised by the effort, although there is nothing he could do to stop that. A scrapbook moment for the England man.
76' Reus feeds the run of Brandt in the left inside channel, but he cannot pull the trigger in time amid pressure from Umtiti.
D. Zagadou
Ł. Piszczek
76' Zagadou is on for Piszczek down the right flank for Dortmund.
75' OFF THE BAR!!! Messi takes on an ambitious strike from the free-kick on the right flank. He whips it towards goal with pace and Burki can only watch it soar over his head, clip the bar and bounce over. A remarkable effort from the Argentine from that angle.
Raphaël Guerreiro
Yellow Card
74' Guerreiro brings down Sergi Roberto on the charge down the right flank and goes into the book.
72' Akanji this time has to get across to stop Messi working the ball into the path of Griezmann on the left flank. Barca are all over the visitors at the moment.
Sergio Busquets
Yellow Card
71' Busquets slides in on Witsel and goes into the book.
69' Dortmund are wide open again at the back, and only a fine a sliding challenge from Hummels stops Suarez latching on to Messi's pass.
L. Messi
Assist
67' Messi surges upfield and slides a perfect pass into the box for Griezmann to convert.
A. Griezmann
Goal
67' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! GRIEZMANN GETS HIS GOAL!!!!! 3-0 BARCELONA!!!! The Frenchman notches his first goal of the season the Champions League with a composed finish. Messi opens up the Dortmund defence with a throughball into the left inside channel. Griezmann gets behind Piszczek before striking first time into the bottom-right corner, leaving Burki no chance.
65' WIDE! Sergi Roberto hangs a dangerous cross to the back post for Messi of all people to attack. He rises above Piszczek, only to nod his effort wide of the left post.
63' Dortmund are starting to see more of the ball in the Barcelona half. The home side have been guilty of being a tad passive.
61' SAVE! Sancho works the ball down the left to combine with Brandt, but he sees his low strike well saved by Ter Stegen at the near post. Encouragement for the visitors.
59' Griezmann tries to burst down the left flank, but gets stopped by the arm of Piszczek. However, the referee does not award the foul.
57' Hakimi makes a burst down the right flank, but he gets eased off the ball by Lenglet too easily. He looks for a free-kick, but the referee is not interested.
55' The visitors have offered nothing since the restart in the final third. They have to get Sancho on the ball down the left flank.
53' Messi runs at the Dortmund defence and slides a pass through to Griezmann. However, Hummels gets across and holds up the Frenchman, forcing him to pass backwards to keep the attack alive.
L. Messi
Yellow Card
51' Messi weaves his way through the Dortmund defence, but sees his chance to shoot closed down by Burki. He goes down in the box as the keeper fails to gather the ball cleanly, only to see the referee book him for simulation.
48' Dortmund have to stem the side of chances. That was a let-off for the German outfit and they now need to clamp down on the hosts.
46' CHANCE! Messi opens up the Dortmund defence with a pass into the left inside channel for Griezmann. However, he drills his low strike straight into the legs of Burki.
46' We're back underway at the Camp Nou.
J. Sancho
N. Schulz
46' Sancho makes his way on to the field to replace Schulz at the break.
Lucien Favre will be frustrated with his side once again for shipping goals far too easily at the back. They've now conceded 11 goals in their last four matches, with nine of those coming in the first half of their games. He will have to turn to his bench to get back into the contest and Jadon Sancho and company will have to figure out a way to bring their side back from the brink.
Barcelona are on their way to securing a place in the next phase of the Champions League, holding a 2-0 lead over Borussia Dortmund at the break. The German side had a decent start to the game, but their resistance was broken by the Lionel Messi - Luis Suarez connection. First Messi capitalised on a loose ball on the edge of the box to release Suarez, who finished in style from close range. A mistake by Mats Hummels then allowed the two to combine with neat interplay before the Argentine provided a fine strike to find the net. Dortmund were in scramble mode to get into half-time without further damage, but once again they have a mountain to climb after conceding cheap goals.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 2-0 BORUSSIA DORTMUND
45' + 2' Griezmann almost takes Junior's low ball to the edge of the box in stride, but he just cannot bring it under control amid a crowd of bodies.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
45' Referee Clement Turpin gets struck in the side of the head by the ball as Suarez tries a blind flick. It has to stop play and restart with a drop ball after regaining his bearings.
43' OVER! Hakimi goes for goal from 25 yards, but his effort is harmless and travels well over the bar. Dortmund have offered nothing since the early stages.
42' The visitors play themselves into trouble at the back once again. Busquets sends a flick into the right-inside channel for Messi to collect, but he cannot take the ball in stride. A let-off for the German side.
40' Dortmund cannot afford to concede again before the break. Defensively they have been extremely poor over the last month. They have to find some resolve here to hold out.
38' OVER! Messi clips a ball over the top for Griezmann, but Hummels heads it clear, although as far as Suarez. He goes for the first-time strike, only to scoop his attempt over the bar.
35' Dortmund have lost their composure at the back and the home side are looking a threat every time they push forward.
L. Suárez
Assist
33' Suarez rolls a pass to Messi to return the favour for the opener, allowing Messi to score.
L. Messi
Goal
33' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! MESSI IS CLINICAL IN THE FINAL THIRD!!! 2-0 BARCELONA!! Dortmund are the architects of their own downfall allowing Messi to strike. Hummels gives the ball away straight to De Jong, who finds Messi. The Argentine and Suarez combine with a neat one-two to allow the former to find space in the left inside channel. He fires his effort low past Burki and beyond the outstretched leg of Hummels covering on the line.
32' PENALTY SHOUT! Griezmann goes down in the box as he tries to latch on to a pass from Messi. The referee does not give a penalty before Dortmund get themselves in a tangle and Witsel has to clear in the six-yard box.
31' SAVE! Messi weaves his way through yellow shirts in the final third and he hammers an effort towards goal from the edge of the box. Burki holds firm to make the save, but he palms it out into the middle of the box. Messi slides the ball to Griezmann to send a low ball across the face of goal, but there's no one there to convert.
L. Messi
Assist
29' Messi capitalises on a deflection to take possession and tee up Suarez to score.
L. Suárez
Goal
29' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! SUAREZ SCORES THIS TIME!!!! BARCELONA 1-0!! Messi and Suarez are not to be denied a second time as the Argentine tees up his team-mate to dispatch his strike from close range. The ball falls kindly for Messi on the edge of the box and he plays a fine pass for the Uruguayan, who fires a low shot past Burki into the bottom-left corner.
28' Dortmund are trying to take the pace out of the game and their strategy appears to be working at the moment.
A. Griezmann
O. Dembélé
26' Dembele has to be withdrawn for the home side and is replaced by Griezmann.
25' A huge concern for Barca as Dembele is down in the box, clutching his thigh. He may have to make way here.
23' Hakimi latches on to Reus' pass down the right flank and he squares his offload for Schulz to strike at goal, but his attempt is saved. However, the move is halted anyway for an offside decision against Hakimi.
21' DISALLOWED GOAL!! Suarez believes that he has handed Barca the lead, but the goal is disallowed on the pitch by the linesman for offside. The Uruguayan moves too soon from Messi's perfect pass into the box before slotting his effort past Burki. VAR confirms the decision.
19' Barca regain possession from Witsel, who stays down. However, the home side are unable to capitalise as Dembele's cross is claimed by Burki.
18' Messi glides down the right flank and beats two challenges with ease, but he loses his footing before he can provide a quality offload into the box.
16' Sergi Roberto has to be alert at the back to stop Reus' throughball from reaching the run of Schulz. The defender does just enough to poke it back to Ter Stegen.
14' Dortmund are trying to keep possession in the Barca half to take the pace out of the home side's attacks. It's going to be a battle all evening for the German outfit.
12' Messi plays the ball into space for Dembele and he cuts inside to shoot from the left inside channel. He tries to connect on his right foot, only to slice his attempt at Burki.
10' BLOCK! Messi hammers his effort straight into the wall as Busquets gets in the way of the Argentine's effort. Sergi Roberto lifts the ball back towards Dembele, but his cross is claimed by Burki.
9' Messi runs at the Dortmund defence, but gets brought down on the edge of the box by Weigel. Barca have a free-kick in a dangerous position for Messi to strike at goal.
7' BLOCK! Messi works the ball down the left for Dembele, who squares a cross into the box for the run of Rakitic. The veteran goes for the strike first time, only to be denied by the body of Akanji.
5' Dembele tries to weave his way through the Dortmund defence, but he gets halted and has to offload to Rakitic. The midfielder almost finds room in the box, but he gets crowded out before he can turn and shoot.
3' Barca work their way through the Dortmund defence as Dembele releases Rakitic. He tries to turn in the box, but Akanji is there to make an important challenge.
2' SAVE! Dortmund break on the counter as Brandt leads the charge through the middle of the Barca midfield. He offloads to Hakimi on the right right flank and fires into the middle. Schulz is forward, but he sees his close-range effort saved by Ter Stegen before he slides his effort on the rebound wide of the post from the ground.
1' We're underway at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona have never lost against Borussia Dortmund in a European match – they have avoided defeat in three previous meetings (W1 D2 L0).
Sancho is benched by Favre for the contest amid speculation linking him with a move away from the club. There are three changes for Dortmund from their draw against Paderborn as Hakimi returns to replace Sancho on the right flank, while Reus moves forward. Brandt comes into the side for Paco Alcacer to operate behind Reus. Akanji is back in the defence, which sees Weigl move into the midfield and Dahoud slide to the bench.
Barcelona have made three changes to their side that beat Leganes last time out. There's no place in the starting line-up for Griezmann, who drops to the bench. Valverde opts for a three-man attack and midfield with the Frenchman the player to miss out. Rakitic gets the nod to start ahead of him to bolster the middle of the park. The suspended Gerard Pique is replaced by Lenglet in the heart of the defence, while Sergi Roberto returns to start at right-back ahead of Wague.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND SUBS: Dan Axel-Zagadou, Jadon Sancho, Mahmoud Dahoud, Mario Gotze, Thorgan Hazard, Marcel Schmelzer, Marwin Hitz.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-2-3-1): Roman Burki; Lukasz Piszczek, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Nico Schulz; Julian Weigl, Axel Witsel; Achraf Hakimi, Julian Brandt, Raphael Guerreiro; Marco Reus.
BARCELONA SUBS: Jean-Clair Tobido, Arthur, Neto, Moussa Wague, Antoine Griezmann, Aturo Vidal, Ansu Fati.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Sergi Roberto, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, Junior Firpo; Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong; Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele.
Dortmund produced an outstanding comeback to defeat Inter in their last Champions League outing. Lucien Favre's men were seemingly down and out, trailing 2-0 at half-time. However, a brace from Achraf Hakimi and a strike from Julian Brandt secured the win to keep them on course for a spot in the knockout phase. Their form since then has been poor to say the least in the Bundesliga, suffering a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Bayern before needing another brilliant effort of resilience to come from three goals down to draw with Paderborn at Signal Iduna Park. Opportunity knocks tonight as a win will see them through, but they have be stronger defensively.
The battle to advance from Group F remains fierce, with only four points separating Barca, Dortmund and Inter Milan. Barca are in top spot, although they've not been convincing in the Champions League this season - notably being held to a 0-0 draw against Slavia Prague last time out. A victory over Dortmund will see them through to the next phase of the competition as they will not want their future in the balance when travelling to the San Siro in the final round of fixtures. Ernesto Valverde's men have been inconsistent with their performances even outside Europe, needing a comeback to see off Leganes at the weekend. The Catalan club need to produce their best tonight.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund at the Camp Nou.
