58' Well, that as a huge chance for West Ham. Bowen was exactly who they'd want to release in behind the Villa defence. However, Digne and Cash did an excellent job at preventing him from getting a shot off.
M. Cash
Yellow Card
Aston Villa
57' Yellow Card Matthew Stuart Cash
56' CHANCE! Bowen beats the offside trap and finds himself through on goal! It looks as though the attacker will have a clean shot at goal, but Cash races back to hold Bowen up before Digne blocks his 12-yard strike!
53' Both teams have started to show a little more urgency since the break, this game has still yet to open up.

2' West Ham's first win of the season means they climb to 16th, while Villa find themselves in 15th.
1' West Ham snatch three points against Villa. The first half was a sedate affair with few chances: Konsa had a goal ruled out by VAR while Watkins also found the side netting. But neither side could complain about the scoreline following a tight half. And the second period continued in the same vein until Fornals' 25-yard strike deflected off Konsa and over Martinez on its route into the back of the net. Villa tried to rally but couldn't find any rhythm and West Ham held on for an important 1-0 win.
West Ham failed to produce a single shot from inside the box in that half. They'll need to improve dramatically after the break if they're to put Villa under any pressure today.
A quiet half finishes 0-0. West Ham sat deep throughout and made it difficult for Villa to create chances, but both teams are struggling for confidence right now. Villa have come closest: Konsa netted from a corner, only for VAR to rule it out, citing that the ball had gone out of play during the delivery. Watkins and Ings also both had dangerous moments, but a 0-0 scoreline is fair heading into the break.
45' McGinn drives a wild effort high and wide from 25 yards.
42' Both teams seem to be tiring as we approach half-time.
40' Watkins loses out to Kehrer and West Ham have the opportunity to build from the back once more.
38' Neither side will be dismayed with a 0-0 scoreline right now, but in terms of their performance, both managers will be expecting a dramatic improvement on this.
36' Chambers concedes a throw-in deep inside the Villa half, but West Ham fail to make anything of it. Bowen crashes into Digne and the hosts are awarded a free-kick.
34' Coutinho engineers some space to shoot from 25 yards, but his effort is straight at Fabianski.
31' Cresswell sends an enticing delivery into the box from deep, but again, there simply aren't enough attackers to make the most of the chance.
29' Bowen nips in behind Digne and crosses from the byline! However, he has no support and Villa easily clear the delivery.
27' Cash is tripped by Emerson, presenting Villa with a promising free-kick. Coutinho's delivery is easily cleared though.
25' West Ham are sitting deep right now and they're struggling to create anything going forwards.
V. Coufal
B. Johnson
West Ham United
23' Johnson is replaced by Coufal in defence after suffering what looks like a minor muscle injury.
22' Scamacca flicks Coutinho's dangerous delivery behind. The resulting corner is cleared by Zouma.
20' Kehrer puts Johnson under pressure with a terrible pass, allowing Villa to win another corner. West Ham are struggling to find any fluency right now.
18' Watkins heads a tame effort towards goal that's easy for Fabianski to claim. Villa are just starting to build some pressure on the visitors though.
16' VAR rules out a Villa goal! Digne's corner is nodded in by Konsa, but a VAR check reveals that the delivery curled out of play before coming back in and the goal is disallowed!
14' Chance! Watkins beats Johnson before cutting inside and whipping a 15-yard strike that deflects off Zouma and into the side netting!
13' Fornals sweeps a throughball towards Bowen, but Digne anticipates the danger and cuts it out.
11' Fornals gets to the byline, but his cross wastefully trickles straight to Martinez.
9' It's been a slow start from both teams. You can sense a lack of confidence early on, as West Ham and Villa both anxiously look to settle into the game.
7' Fornals wriggles past Luiz and into the box, but Konsa spots the danger and puts in a firm tackle to clear.
5' Villa enjoy a long spell of possession inside their own half as they look to set the tempo in the early stages.
3' Watkins looks to spin in behind the West Ham defence, but Cresswell stands strong to dispossess the attacker.
1' West Ham kick off the first half.
The players are emerging from the tunnel and kick off is just seconds away!
