African talents had a mixed bag of results as they featured in the FA Cup and Belgian Pro League, predominantly, over the weekend.

Algeria's Riyad Mahrez, in particular, grabbed the headlines after his impressive showing for Manchester City in their third-round victory against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo continued with his scoring form for Bristol City while Ivorian winger Wilfried Zaha and Ghana's Jordan Ayew failed to inspire Crystal Palace in the domestic competition as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Southampton.

Meanwhile, Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly had a weekend to forget as he gave away a penalty in the 4-0 defeat against Man City.
