A depleted South Africa side will battle it out with the Leone Stars with several key players missing.

The injured trio of Percy Tau, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, and Lyle Foster will be absent when Bafana Bafana face Sierra Leone in a friendly match on Saturday.

Coach Hugo Broos has included several newcomers in the Bafana fold as the 1996 African champions prepare for next year's 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

GOAL takes a look at how South Africa could start against the West African visitors at the FNB Stadium.

  • Ronwen Williams, Bafana Bafana, March 2022

    GOALKEEPER - Ronwen Williams

The Bafana captain will be determined to keep a clean sheet and lead the team to a morale-boosting win over the Leone Stars.

  • Khuliso Mudau, Bafana Bafana, June 2022

    RIGHT-BACK - Khuliso Mudau

The speedy full-back, who has established himself as arguably the best right-back in the PSL, is most likely to be handed a starting berth.

  • Innocent Maela, Bafana Bafana, October 2020

    LEFT-BACK - Innocent Maela

With fellow left-back Terrence Mashego having been withdrawn from the squad due to an injury, the experienced defender should start.

  • Rushine De Reuck, Bafana Bafana, July 2021

    CENTRE-BACK - Rushine de Reuck

The Cape Town-born defender is a guaranteed starter having established himself as a key centre-back under Broos.

  • Siyanda Xulu, Bafana Bafana, March 2021

    CENTRE-BACK - Siyanda Xulu

The Azerbaijan-based defender, who was handed a late call-up, should start ahead of Nkosinathi Sibisi due to his international experience.

  • Sphephelo Sithole, Bafana Bafana, November 2021

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Sphephelo Sithole

The 23-year-old has become a key midfielder for Bafana having provided an assist in his last game for the team which was against Morocco in June this year.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Bafana Bafana, August 2021

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Teboho Mokoena

The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has been one of the most used players since Broos took charge of the team last year and he has accumulated 13 Bafana caps thus far.

  • Themba Zwane, Bafana Bafana, November 2020

With South Africa having failed to score in their last three games with Broos in charge, the goalscoring midfielder could walk straight into the team on his return to Bafana.

  • Pule Mmodi, Golden Arrows, February 2022

    LEFT FORWARD - Pule Mmodi

The Lamontville Golden Arrows winger is one of the most in-form attackers in the PSL at the moment having scored in four successive matches.

He might be handed his Bafana debut.

  • Kgaogelo Sekgota, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2022

    RIGHT FORWARD - Kgaogelo Sekgota

The left-footed attacker is likely to start on his return to the national team and his explosive speed could create problems for the Leone Stars' defence.

  • Zakhele Lepasa, Orlando Pirates, September 2022

    CENTRE FORWARD - Zakhele Lepasa

The hard-working marksman, who is the only out-and-out striker in the current Bafana squad, should lead the attack this weekend.
