    Ramsey's determination

There is no better way to get a Saturday afternoon started than with a mouth-watering North London Derby, and it certainly lived up to the hype.

Despite the midfielder set for a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season, Aaron Ramsey showed immense passion and determination to open the scoring.

In a swift transition from defence to attack, thanks to a long ball played from just outside the Gunners' box, Ramsey was put through on his bike as he broke the offside trap and showed great composure to not only fend off the Tottenham Hotspur defence but was also able to take the ball beyond Hugo Lloris.

    Leno superb

With Arsenal ahead, Tottenham were determined to get back into the game and had it not been for Bernd Leno, Spurs could have been level even sooner.

Just before the half-time interval, Mauricio Pochettino's men had a glorious chance to equalise as Christian Eriksen broke the offside trap.

The Dane found himself with only the Arsenal keeper to beat, Leno though was having none of it as he bravely denied the Dane, before the ball landed kindly for Moussa Sissoko and the German keeper produced another top draw save as he showed impeccable reflexes to palm away the midfielder's thunderous strike.

    Lloris The Hero

Spurs would eventually equalise from the penalty spot but just before full-time Arsenal had a chance to steal all three points and bragging rights.

Davinson Sanchez was adjudged to have brought down Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang illegally inside the box leading to an opportunity for the Gunners to walk away handsomely from this fierce rivalry.

However, it was Frenchman Hugo Lloris who would perhaps cement his name in North London Derby football folklore as he produced a strong right-handed save to deny Aubameyang from the spot and ensured that Arsenal would not leave Wembley with the three points.

Easy as you like it Rakitic

Saturday's action culminated in the mother of all rivalries, the El Clasico.

However, with so much quality on the field as two of football's giants collided, Ivan Rakatic netted what proved to be the game's only goal with 26 minutes played.

The Croatian combined well on the right-hand side and like a hot knife through butter, he was put through on goal, and his delicate chip over Thibaut Courtois put the cherry on top of a well-worked move as the ball hit the back of the net.

Courtois keeps Real in the game

The Blaugrana looked dominant especially in the first half and Luis Suarez found himself with an opportunity to score his 17th goal of the league campaign and Barca's second of the night when he found himself in space on the edge of the area.

The Uruguayan released a dipping drive but the lanky frame of Courtois produced a solid stop, giving Madrid at least a fighting chance.

Barca the current kings of El Clasico

Rakitic's early strike meant that Barcelona registered their second El Clasico win in the space of three days.

Barcelona have been completely dominant over their rivals in recent times and considering that Madrid's last El Clasico league win came in 2016, one of football's biggest rivalries is only expected to get even more fierce the next time these two giants lock horns.
