William Troost-Ekong hails Nigeria’s ‘great team spirit’ vs. Libya

William Troost-Ekong has praised Nigeria after fighting back to earn a 3-2 victory against Libya in Tuesday’s African Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Stade Taieb Mhiri.

Although Gernot Rohr’s men started the game on an impressive note with two early goals from Odion Ighalo and stand-in captain Ahmed Musa, the Mediterranean Knights did not go down without putting up a fight as they rallied back 2-2. However, Ighalo's 81st-minute strike sealed the win for the Super Eagles.

And the Udinese defender has taken to the social media to revel in the victory.

“Great team spirit last night away against Libya, good fight to take home the three points in the end,” Troost-Ekong posted on Instagram.

Earlier, the Super Eagles had pummelled Omar Al-Marime’s men 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

With the performances, the three-time African champions are close to securing a place at the 2019 Afcon tournament in Cameroon, having moved to the summit of Group E table with nine points ahead of South African who played a goalless draw with Seychelles earlier on Tuesday.

The west Africans have not qualified for the competition since they won the title in 2013.
