Europe's premier club competition is back - but who will be crowned the Santander Player of the Week?

The UEFA Champions League returns on Tuesday.

And the world's leading club competition is throwing up some mouth-watering ties as the game's biggest stars collide.

But who will rise up above the rest and be crowned the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week, sponsored by Banco Santander?

Will Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo cap a return to Old Trafford by finding the net against Manchester United and add to his impressive tally of five goals and two assists in six UCL games against his former clubs?

Or will Sergio Aguero conquer Shakhtar Donetsk to cap a memorable night that will see him become the first Manchester City player to make 50 UCL appearances for the club?

Reigning champions Real Madrid will be keen to get back on track after a defeat to CSKA Moscow on Matchday two when they host Viktoria Plzen and will no doubt turn to midfield maestro Toni Kroos, who comes into this Matchweek with nine key passes – more than anyone else in the competition.

Bayern Munich, too, are a European giant hoping to overcome a tricky start to the season and could find their creative spark from an unlikely source. Defender Jerome Boateng has hit 24 accurate long passes in the competition - 11 more than any of his team-mates.
