'Unplayable' Alexis tipped by Saha to do 'amazing things' at Man Utd

Alexis Sanchez could prove to be “unplayable” for Manchester United, says Louis Saha, with the Chilean capable of “amazing things”.

The Red Devils have dug deep once again in order to secure a proven Premier League performer, with a lucrative package having lured Sanchez away from Arsenal and to Old Trafford instead of to Manchester City.

Avoiding the need to pay a fee for a player running down his contract in north London certainly aided that cause, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan traded in a straight swap agreement.

United, though, are considered to have pulled off quite a coup, with Sanchez being tipped to emulate the achievements of another former Gunner, Robin van Persie, by becoming a talismanic presence under Jose Mourinho.

“His speed, he has no fear. It’s impossible to mark those kind of players. He can play right, left, in the middle, play behind defenders… it’s unplayable,” former United striker Saha told Reuters on the talented 29-year-old.

“When these players get players around them as well with desire to win titles… he can do amazing things at United.

“If you remember Van Persie, who also came from Arsenal and destroyed the Premier League by himself in the first season. He killed it, we hope Sanchez will do the same.”

Sanchez has not been brought in, as Van Persie was, to be the focal point of United’s attack, with it expected that he will fill more of a support role.

The Red Devils spent £75 million over the summer bolstering their strike force with the addition of Romelu Lukaku, and the Belgian is still the leading man at Old Trafford.

He has seen his productivity reined in, however, after opening the season with 11 goals in 10 games, and Saha is of the opinion that Mourinho needs to tweak his tactical approach in order to get the best out of the 24-year-old.

“He started well, we can see that he has got more in him,” added the Frenchman.

“We want to see him rip apart some defenders because he can do it.

“Physically he’s so strong. I will say that he can do more but that’s easy to say. Sometimes Lukaku might not be helped with Mourinho’s style of play.

“I wish next season maybe, with one year under his belt, he’ll be even more consistent.”
