2016 Kenyan Premier League and GOtv Shield Champions Tusker FC released 14 players after an unimpressive season.

Among those released are Captain James Situma, midfielder Humphrey Mieno and striker Allan Wanga.

Former Brewers striker Boniface Ambani was amused by the decision to release the core team that won a double for the club just one year ago.

"A squad that won a double a year ago; Why do you release 14 players? Sometimes people do not understand dynamics of football. When you have senior players in the team you have to know how to deal with them. Kenyan coaches feel threatened with such players for nothing.

"Hence you just want to do away with them and bring 'yes' men. Kenyan Problem, big problem. A coach should be a manager, a counselor, a teacher, a mediator, and many more. You have to have brains of how to deal with different kind of players in a team. It is a Kenyan problem. Anyway for those released, wish them well."

It is not yet known who will be at the helm next season after coach George Nsimbe's suspension.
