TFF announce new date for Dar derby

The Tanzania Premier League Governing Body have revealed a new date for the Simba versus Yanga clash (Dar es Salaam Derby).

Initially, the game was scheduled to be played on April 7 but needed to be moved after Yanga were drawn to play Ethiopia’s Wolayta Dicha in the CAF Confederation Cup on the same weekend.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, TPLB’s Executive Officer, Boniface Wambura revealed that the clash between the sides will be moved forward to April 29.

Wambura said that they had no choice but to move the date as Yanga will be in action to represent the country in the CAF tournament.

“The game will be played three weeks ahead of the initial date, this is because Yanga will be in action to represent our country so we had nothing else to do but to reshuffle the fixtures” said Wambura.

Yanga who were knocked out of CAF Confederation Cup by Botswana’s Township Rollers were relegated to the Confederation cup and according to the draw which was conducted last week in Cairo, Egypt they will host Dicha in the weekend of April 6, 7 or 8.

Wambura also has confirmed that Simba will be away for three games in a row starting with Njombe Mji will on April 3, then against Mtibwa Sugar on April 9 and lastly against Lipuli on April 20.
