Safuwan and Norshahrul joins AFC Cup bound, Pahang

Pahang nabbed the duo of Safuwan Baharudin and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha to beef up their squad ahead of Super League and AFC Cup challenges in 2018.

Safuwan has spent the last two seasons with PDRM but saw their league status dropped from Super League to Premier League and only ended up finishing in eight spot in the second tier division last season.

The Singapore international can play a number of positions from the back to the front. Always central, Safuwan has been deployed as a centre back, a midfielder and a striker in his time playing in the M-League.

As for Norshahrul, Pahang will be the ninth team that he has signed for after previoulsy appearing for Felda United, Terengganu, Johor Darul Ta'zim and Kelantan amongst others. The 31-year-old striker is still highly regarded in the country for his abilities despite constrasting performances on the pitch.

Having started out strongly for Felda last season, Norshahrul fell into the shadows as the season went on. More and more time on the bench was spent for "Mat Yo" than in starting positions after B. Sathianathan managed to get in Thiago Augusto midway through the season.

Both players will offer plenty of experience for Pahang and Dollah Salleh as they look to manage the dual challenge on both domestic and continental front, having been given the AFC Cup slot after Kedah's failure to comply with necessary registration regulations.
