Ronaldinho & Luis Figo set to star in UEFA-United Nations charity game

A number of big names will head to Geneva next month to take part in the Match For Solidarity

Ronaldinho and Luis Figo are among the illustrious names set to take part in the joint UEFA-United Nations Match for Solidarity next month.

The game takes place on Saturday 21 April 2018 at 16.00CET at the Stade de Genève, with pre-match activities involving local and international children starting around an hour before kick-off.

Carlo Ancelotti and Didier Deschamps will be the coaches while the match itself will be refereed by the legendary Pierluigi Collina. Other names set to be involved include Eric Abidal, Cafu, Robert Pires and Christian Karembeu, with more to follow in the coming weeks.

Eleven Campaign, an international non-profit organisation founded by Greeks in London, are creating a feature-length documentary profiling 11 children from 11 corners of the globe and will be hosting their ‘Eleven Rise As One’ exhibition match at 14.45CET, an hour before some of football’s greatest legends take the field in the Match for Solidarity.

The match, aimed at promoting peace, human rights and well-being in the world, is in partnership with UEFA Foundation for Children, with the eleven young heroes set to meet in person and train in Geneva for the first time next month. Eleven uses the unifying power of sport to celebrate diversity, promote equality, cross-cultural collaboration and youth development
