Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir's side are aiming for their first Swedish Women's Cup final since 2014 when they visit the LF Arena on Saturday

Nigeria international Rita Chikwelu has backed her Kristianstad side for a final spot as she faces her compatriot Faith Ikidi's Pitea in the Swedish Women's Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Kristianstad edged past Eskilstuna United 1-0 to reach the semi-final but are yet to win the competition, although they reached the final in 2014 but ended up losing 2-1 to Linkopings.

And the Super Falcons midfielder, who has scored two goals in three games, admits the high-profile contest will be tough as she looks forward to uniting with her country's teammate.

"I must say we've worked very hard as a team to come this far in the competition," Chikwelu told Goal.

"This time last year, they did the same thing to us and we don’t want that to happen to us again and we have given everything to make sure we reach the semi-finals.

"We are fully aware that we are going to play against the Swedish league champions as well as my fellow country mate Faith Ikidi.

"I must admit that it is not going to be an easy game on Saturday but I wish both of us a very good game!

"This game is very important because we want to start our campaign by winning something, so we are going there to give everything!

"I believe it's possible. If we can stop Rosengard, then we can do it against any other team. We are Kristianstad and always believe in ourselves."

Chikwelu will hope for a win at the LF Arena on Saturday to help Kristianstad inch closer to their quest of clinching their first ever major silverware.
