The Red-Whites have joined the race to sign the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window
Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has arrived in Serbia to finalise negotiations following an impending move from Kuwaiti side Al Qadisiya to Red Star Belgrade, Goal understands.
The 25-year-old was initially linked with English Championship sides Middlesbrough and Aston Villa but is likely to sign a two-year move with Belgrade ahead of the new season.
Sumaila was in good form in the Kuwaiti top-flight last season and produced a bright showing for Ghana against Japan in a friendly match last month.
He will become the only Ghanaian at the club if negotiations end successfully since defender Abraham Frimpong and striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom have both left the club.
He began his career with Ghana Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs before moving on to Asante Kotoko and then South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014.
