The Peace Boys striker has thumbed up the inspirational pep talk of their head coach for their stalemate with the Promise Keepers in Uyo

Plateau United’s Hamzat Owolabi has attributed their draw against Akwa United in Uyo to the halftime pep talk of their head coach, Kennedy Boboye.

The Peace Boys came into the tie with close to 10 players unavailable due to injuries but Owolabi asserted that their coach charged them to prove critics wrong and inspired by his words they fought harder to ensure they picked a point.

“It was a very tough match but we relied on the inspirational talk from our coach that we shouldn’t lose hope despite the challenge we have been facing in our last few matches,” Owolabi told Goal.

“Coach Boboye instructed us to play with all our hearts and tried not to be intimidated by them. He told us to concentrate on our game and irrespective of the result at the end of the 90 minutes that our consciences will bear us witness that we have put in our best.

“He still repeated the same line when I was about going in and it made the desired effect. I am happy to get my first goal of the season in my first game and I hope to build on this performance in our other games.”

The league’s title holders are fourth in the league table with 30 points from 19 matches.
