Perak boss Mehmet Durakovic has praised his team's performance in their 5-0 first leg Malaysia Cup semi-final win over Sabah on Sunday.

The hosts proved too strong for the visitors, who had been producing a number of surprise results against more-fancied opponents en route to reaching the semi-finals.

Goals from the Perak vs Sabah match

Speaking in the post-match interview with the match broadcaster, the Australian commented that everything went right in the match for the Bos Gaurus, against the formidable Rhinos.

"It has been one of those nights when my players played a fantastic game; they took their chances and thoroughly deserved to win. The pressure, the passing, the movement, they played fantastic football. I'm very happy with the result.

"It wasn't easy, Sabah are a very good side. They had beaten some fantastic teams on their way to the semis and you've got to respect them. They're a good team with good local and foreign players and a good coach. It's just that they played us on a night when everything went right for us," he told co-commentator, former Malaysia international Syed Adney Syed Hussein.

When asked whether the tie is done and dusted due to the huge margin in the first leg, Durakovic, who had won the cup both as a player and as a head coach, chose to remain grounded;

"It's never over until the final whistle, you know? It's not going to be an easy game in Kota Kinabalu. it's a good result, but it isn't going to be easy."

The return fixture will be played on 21 October.
