The 1995 Champions League winners are hoping to complete a double over Horoya having defeated the Guinean champions 3-0 at home two months ago

Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele believes that the team’s second-half performance against FC Platinum will give them confidence going forward in the Caf Champions League.

The Buccaneers came from two goals down to hold the Zimbabwean champions to a 2-2 draw in their penultimate Group B match at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

Jele was happy with the team's character despite Bucs dropping points against the group's proverbial whipping boys, who are winless in Group B.

“All I can say is it was a difficult game. In the first half, we made things difficult by conceding two goals and we had to chase the game, so eish, it was very difficult to chase the game," Jele said in a video posted by Pirates' official Twitter account after the game.

“We knew if we were going to chase the game that there would be some tactical fouls and they could waste time but what I love, I love the character of the team," the experienced player continued.

"The way we fought shows that we were hungry and wanted a win more. We showed that we are a good team and if we want to win games it is possible to do it," he explained.

The result saw Bucs remain third on the Group B standings - a point behind second-placed Horoya AC, who succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the defending champions Esperance away on Saturday.

Tunisian champions Esperance have already booked their place in the quarter-finals as Group B winners, while Pirates will battle with Horoya for the runners-up spot.

“We want to go to the next round, we had to [fight to] get a draw or a win. We didn’t get a win but the draw it’s OK, we will take it. The last game of the group stage we need to fight to get the three points," he concluded.

Pirates will travel to Guinea to face Horoya needing a victory to qualify for the quarter-finals later this month.
