Odion Ighalo scores in Changchun Yatai win over Beijing Guoan

Nigeria's Odion Ighalo scored a goal in Changchun Yatai’s 2-1 victory over Beijing Guoan in a Chinese Super League game.

The 28-year-old rounded goalkeeper Yang Zhi after receiving a short through pass from Tan Long to revive his goalscoring prowess and put Yatai ahead in the 21st minute.

Five minutes before the half-time break, Fan Xiaodong secured maximum points for Chen Jingang’s men as Jonathan Soriano later netted the consolation from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

Ighalo who last scored in a Chinese Super League game in April, has netted three times in 13 league games this season.

Changchun Yatai are placed 10th on the log with 16 points from 15 games and will welcome Andre Villa Boas’s Shanghai SIPG to the Development Area Stadium on July 9.
