No changes at the top as Melaka United drops into the bottom two

Six Super League matches were played on Wednesday, the 13th round of the 2017 season. 13 goals were scored in those six matches but wins for the top three means that the table remains the same while things are getting tighter at the foot of the table.

Kedah recovered from well from their weekend's excursions in the FA Cup to record a comfortable 3-0 win over T-Team at the Darul Aman Stadium. The win, sees them keep pace with Pahang, tied on 24 points but still six points behind JDT.

Syawal Nordin continued to deputise for the injured Zac Anderson at the heart of the defence and it was a much better performance than the one Kedah dished out when they met in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Ken Ilso's magnificent goal scoring run continues as the Danish striker grabbed a hattrick with his first half strikes. The goals came in the 12th, 16th and 45th minute to take his league tally for the season to nine goals.

Kelantan 2 Penang 2

Penang continues to take baby steps as they hold Kelantan to a 2-2 draw at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium in Kota Bahru. Penang are still rooted to the bottom spot with six points while Kelantan dropped one spot from sixth to seventh in the league standings.

It was the Panthers who opened the scoring through new signing Sanna Nyassi who coincidentally was eyed by Kelantan before Penang signed him. S. Thinagaran quickly replied for the home side before Danial Ashraf popped up with the second goal for the Red Warriors to lead for the first time in the match.

However, the last laugh belonged to Nyassi who scored one minute before the end of normal time to give his new employers a very welcomed away point.

Perak 0 Sarawak 0

Perak and Sarawak played out to a 0-0 draw at Perak Stadium in Ipoh. In a waterlogged pitch due to heavy downpour, neither side found it easy on what is a very difficult pitch to play in. Incredibly, Perak still gained one spot as rivals Selangor lost while Sarawak moved out of the relegation zone with the draw.

This is Perak's third consecutive home draw and the dissatisfaction from the stands over the performance of Mehmet Durakovic's team grows. Unluckily for Durakovic, the weather also played a major part in the those three home matches. As for David Usop, they would have been pleased to come away with a point from a team in the top half of the table.

Felda United 3 Melaka United 0

Felda United handed Melaka United a 3-0 beating at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka. The win sends the Fighters up to sixth spot, level on points with Selangor. As for Melaka, the defeat sees them going back into the relegation zone, albeit through inferior goal differences to Sarawak and PKNS FC.

Lucas Cano and Zah Rahan Kranger struck in the opening half to give Felda a 2-0 lead going into half time. Gaston Cellerino notched his first league goal in the second half to complete a wonderful win for B. Sathianathan's side.

Without a "rested" Eric Williams, Melaka looked a pale shadow of the organised and disciplined team that held JDT to a 1-1 draw in the game prior. A major shake-up in the team and perhaps even the management could be in the offing, as the Mousedeers look to avoid the drop.
