Michelle Katsvairo handed Kaizer Chiefs lifeline

Kaizer Chiefs attacker Michelle Katsvairo has been handed a potential lifeline by the Soweto giants following his impressive displays at the 2017 Cosafa Cup tournament.

Katsvairo was transfer-listed at the end of last season after falling down the pecking order during the second half of last season at Chiefs.

According to the player's agent, Michael Ngobeni, Katsvairo was told to report for pre-season soon after regional tournament.

He is currently on his way to Botswana with the first team where they will play Township Rollers in a friendly match on Saturday afternoon.

"Mitchy was called to report back from Cosafa," Ngobeni told Goal.

"He's now on his way to Botswana with the rest of the team. He has to fight and convince Steve," said the player's agent.

Katsvairo should consider himself fortunate that he's still part of the squad ahead of next season considering that Siyanda Xulu and Enocent Mkhabela have both not been training with the team.

Last year, the Glamour Boys removed Xulu, Edward Manqele and Siphelele Mthembu from the transfer list after it became evident that they were not going to find suitable clubs.

It remains to be if Katsvairo, who previously spoke of his desire to remain at Chiefs, will force coach Steve Komphela into retaining his services for the upcoming campaign.
