There heavyweights will have to dig deep to secure wins in fierce away battles in week five of the local topflight

Both in with a chance of tying Ashanti Gold at the top of the table, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko arguably have sights set on three points on matchday five of the Ghana Premier League.

Third and second respectively, wins will, however, not come cheap as some tricky away ties await.

Hearts will be playing at the revered Golden City Park, home of Berekum Chelsea, who are not known for generosity at the venue. But three points is certainly not beyond the Phobians, who handed the Blues a 1-0 defeat in 2016 to end the latter’s four-year unbeaten home record in the topflight.

Kotoko will also play as guests to leaders Ashanti Gold, whose good form has seen them win three and draw one of four games played thus far. Two of the wins came at home against Wa All Stars and Karela United.

Elsewhere, seventh-placed Inter Allies will hope to make amends for the 6-0 defeat to Aduana Stars when they host Wafa at Tema. The latter, like Hearts and Kotoko, could tie Ashanti Gold at the top with three points.

At Dawu, Dreams FC have set sights on claiming a third successive home victory when they lock horns with newly-promoted Karela United. Still Believe hold the fifth position while the debutants, who registered their first ever victory in the Premier League last weekend, sit five places below.

Still on the search for their first win of the campaign, Liberty Professionals are hoping to be fourth time lucky in their trip to Sekondi Eleven Wonders, who place eighth on the ladder.

But before the above games come off on Sunday, there would have been two early matches on Saturday.

Fourteenth-positioned Ebusua Dwarfs and fifteenth-placed Bechem United will face off at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Wa All Stars are eyeing a second home triumph when they welcome Elmina Sharks in the other game later at same venue.

Medeama’s fixture against Aduana Stars has been rescheduled due to the latter’s Caf Confederation Cup clash with Fosa Juniors of Madagascar on Sunday.
