The embattled coach also said he is a type of a coach that doesn’t give up because his players are giving their best to save the club’s PSL status.
“We went to this game knowing it won't be easy to beat them, they have top quality. Sundowns should be winning the league title like Juventus. They possess top players from the field, bench to the stands, you have to give them respect," Tinkler said as quoted by Isolezwe.
Although the Team of Choice sits at the bottom of the table with 17 points from 23 games, the former Cape Town city boss insists there is still hope to escape the relegation axe.
The 2-1 loss to Pitso Mosimane’s troops was United’s second in a row following a 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium last weekend.
"There will always be hope as long as I'm still here, we need to win games and the fact that teams around us have tough fixtures coming up, it gives us hope," he continued.
"We hope to fight like we did when we were in a similar position, we will fight till the end even if we get to a playoff position we won't mind now as long as we save this club," he concluded.
In their next match, Maritzburg United will face Bloemfontein Celtic on April 05 and that match presents an opportunity for Tinkler’s men to bag a win.
