Kuala Lumpur couldn't have asked for a better draw for the FA Cup quarterfinal, at least from the travel perspective as they will take on Selangor in the draw that was done on Tuesday evening.
The Klang Valley derby will have both matches played at KLFA Stadium in Cheras as both teams are currently using that stadium as their home venues.
For KL's head coach, Fabio Marciel da Silva, this represents a good chance for them to advance to the final, what with their possible semi-final opponents being either Perak or PKNS FC.
"The good things is that we play two games at home, same for Selangor. So we don't need to travel far, so that's good for both teams. We play who we play, we cannot choose the opponent. The cup game is different from league because in the league you have time to recover but not in the cup."
"We have to play smart and intelligent. It'll be a tough game and we will prepare for that. We have around 20 days to prepare the team well. We go game by game and for now we'll be only be thinking about the first game against Selangor," said Fabio after the draw.
KL played Selangor in their 2018 Super League opener and it was the Red Giants that came out victorious in the first meeting and they are in considerably good form, having stay unbeaten in their last three matches.
Fabio's team reached the quarterfinal stage, having ousted Melaka United in the third round. The match went into extra time after both teams couldn't be separated even after 120 minutes played. KL's keeper Ahmad Solehin was the toast of the team in the penalty shoot-out, saving three spot kicks to help his team advance.
