The Pride of Benue are two points ahead of second-placed Akwa United and they will be hoping to maintain their lead when they travel to Niger Tornadoes in their next outing.
"After we played 1-1 at home to Enyimba in our opening match, everyone thought we were a bad side," Agbaji told Goal.
"We always want to send strong signals to various opponents. We had to go to Enugu to pull the shock against Rangers which as lifted our spirit to challenge for the title.
"The victory was a huge motivation for us as we are all in high spirit to build on it.
"In the game football, generally, anything can happen. It was a great moment for us as determination and hard work made it happen for us, though it was not easy.
"We have a target this season to win the title. It has been long since we have won a major trophy. We want to leverage our position and keep up the momentum."
