The first look at Sydney FC's new stadium

The future of the Sydney Football Stadium has been unveiled in a video by the NSW government.

Construction will begin after the venue is demolished in January 2019.

Wellington sign Spanish defensive midfielder

Phoenix have added 29-year-old Armando Sosa Peña - who is known as Mandi - on a one-year deal.

The Santa Lucia-born holding midfielder most recently plied his trade with Almeria in the Spanish Segunda.

He also made 47 appearances with Real Madrid B between 2010 and 2012.

"I watched him when I was in Europe and he will complement our defensive structure in the middle of the park," coach Mark Rudan said.

"He is another player that will work extremely hard for the team and gives their all on the pitch so he will slot in perfectly.

"He is not only a defensive rock but also possesses leadership qualities having captained teams he's played for."

New Socceroo Martin Boyle has revealed why he will be wearing green and gold

A personal meeting with Australian coach Graham Arnold persuaded Martin Boyle to represent the Socceroos.

The Hibernian winger explained Arnold's sell about the team's style of play and his potential role in the squad were the main factors in his decision.

"[Arnold and I] were sitting for a good 20-30 minutes about the possibilities of playing for Australia. He seemed really keen to have me on board," Boyle said.

"The style of football he really wants to emulate and the group of boys he was bringing in, the football really attracted me.

"He said I'd fit into the system really well, and I want to pursue that."

Boyle has scored three goals and provided three assists in the Scottish Premier League season - proving that he can make an impact in the green and gold.

But don't ask him to sing the national anthem - and he has never been to Australia.

"I'm currently in the progress of learning it. If you can give me a few more weeks, I'll give you a rendition of it," he said.
