Leicester City manager Claude Puel has showered encomium on summer recruit Rachid Ghezzal following his impressive display in their loss to Liverpool on Saturday.

After scoring his maiden goal for the Foxes in the League Cup, the 26-year-old built on the performance with another goal against Jurgen Klopp’s men at the King Power Stadium.

And the French tactician, pleased with the addition of the former Monaco man has lauded the quality of the winger.

“I think he played a very good game,” Puel told Leicester Mercury.

“He kept good ball under pressure. He has the quality to play between the lines. He can move, he can shoot, he can cross, he can give assists and good service.

“I said when he came from Monaco, it was a very interesting signing for us. He offers something different to the other players.

“It is important for our squad to have this player and I am happy about his performance.

“For his first start in the Premier League, he did a lot of good things. In the battles, too, and his defensive work. All good things to continue to improve and give his best for the future.

“I am happy about his listening, about his consistency in the game. He played a lot of time, three days before, and repeated a good performance today. It was amazing. It was good for him and for the squad.”
