KZN Academy youngster Sibusiso Shibane looks to impress at Sporting

Another KZN Academy youngster is reportedly attempting to land himself a contract in the Portuguese topflight

Youngster Sibusiso Shibane is reportedly undergoing a trial with Portuguese giants Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Shibane becomes the latest KwaZulu-Natal Academy player to try his luck in Europe.

The striker was most recently called up to the under-20 national team which took on the likes of England and Brazil at a friendly tournament hosted in England, and he will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of another KZN Academy graduate in 20-year-old Thabo Cele, who is on the books of Sporting rivals Benfica.

Nevertheless, a Phakaaathi source close to the player has stated that Shibane arrived in Portugal on Monday and is set to undergo a trial in hope of impressing the Lions.

“I am not sure how long the trial will take, but the boy is already in Portugal. What I know is that he will impress the team. He is good and has a bright future,” the source said.

Meanwhile, if Shibane does indeed earn himself a contract in Portugal he will link up with another South African in Liam Jordan, who is currently on-loan from Bidvest Wits.
