Johor Darul Ta'zim's Pereyra Diaz celebrates scoring the third goal against Terengganu

JDT bring back former fan favourite for 2018 season

The Argentine is once again back with the Super League champions for the third time in his career.

Diaz first joined JDT back in 2014 when he was signed during the mid-season transfer window. His impact was immediate and he was able to help the Southern Tigers to their first Super League triumph as well as finishing runners-up in the Malaysia Cup that year.

He moved back to Argentina's Independiente the following year but was re-signed by JDT before the start of the 2016 season. His time away saw him missed out on JDT's greatest ever success in the history on the club - winning the 2015 AFC Cup, but he would make up for it with a superb 2016 season.

Diaz dovetailed brilliantly with Martin Lucero in attack and they scored goals for fun as JDT picked up another Super League title as well as the FA Cup. His absence was sorely missed by the team in the semi-final of the AFC Cup, with him sitting out of the crucial away leg against Bengaluru due to suspension.

A player who's first instinct is always to drive forward, Diaz possesses the dribbling skills that bedazzles defenders as well as always seemingly being in the right place at the right time in the final third of the pitch. It remains interesting to see how he will adapt back to the M-League, on top of what the 27-year-old has learnt during his time with Mexico's Club Leon FC in the Liga Apertura MX.
