India U-17 0-1 AD Alcorcon U-17 - Indian Colts fall prey to The Potters in Spain

The Indian Colts locked horns with U-17 side of AD Alcorcon on Thursday as a part of their exposure visit to Europe. Luis Norton's youngsters lost to The Potters, which was their first defeat in recent times after their 1-2 loss to Sporting CP in Portugal.

The first half saw the Indian side try to generate chances in the middle of the park by using their playmaking skills. First, Stalin Sanjeev did well to get past the Spanish defenders but the attacker failed to shoot accurately as his delivery landed straight into the hands of AD Alcorcon's goalkeeper.

Later, around the half hour mark, Boris Thangjam found Abhijit Sarkar inside the 18-yard box but Sarkar's delivery sailed over the bar. Six minutes later, Sarkar played the ball through for Komal Thatal but lack of power on the shot saw Thatal's attempt being easily collected by The Potters' goalkeeper. These were the last sets of action from the Indian Colts as the two teams walked to the tunnel at the half-time whistle on a 0-0 score-line.

The second half saw an early opportunity for the Young Cubs as Sarkar was in action yet again. The striker came close to registering the first goal of the tie for his side but missed the target by inches. The missed chance came at a cost for India as just two minutes after Sarkar's attempt, the opposition took lead. The Colts were trailing by a solitary goal at the 70th minute and failed to put up an equaliser before the full-time whistle.

The defeat meant that India's unbeaten streak of nine games was brought to an end in Spain.
