India U-16 defeated Jordan 2-1 in the opening game of the four-nation tournament in Serbia on Wednesday.

Jordan were off to a quick start in the game, breaking the deadlock in as early as the second minute. India's response was immediate as they piled the pressure in their opponent's box.

Goalkeeper Biaka impressed in goal for India with multiple brilliant reflex-saves to keep India in the game throughout the match. As the confidence level increased, India equalised in the 17th minute when Vikram crossed for Ridge who made no mistake from close-range.

The U-16s completed their comeback in the 26th minute when Ridge's shot came back off the woodwork into the path of Rohit who placed the ball into the back of the net.

A spirited Indian team held on in the second-half to sustain Jordan's wave of attacks and register a well-fought victory in the first game of the tournament.

In the preparatory tour funded by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) ahead of the AFC U-16 Championship later this year, India will now face Serbia on May 11. Kick off is at 10:30 IST.

India U-16 starting XI: Lalbiakhlua Jongte (GK), Shabas, Gurkirat, Harpreet Singh, Thoiba, Ricky, Givson (C), Sailo, Ridge, Vikram, Rohit.
